I've seen a Ford version of this, we used it to haul xmas trees a few years ago. They look identical. I was impressed something so old was still running.

My employer had the Ford version up until last year. Likewise, it was worked into the ground with little to no maintenance. They traded it on a Isuzu tipper last year. The engine in those have a very distinctive sound to them, I can pick them from a mile away!

we were helping a known out whilst he was in a bit of hardship and one weekend whilst the property owner my self and a few others went up to another mates farm he loaded his car on to it and hooked up a 14" pop up van and took of for queensland (from wa) with as much as he could finger from other vehicles on site , he had planed it well apparently not much we could do according to the police as he knew where the keys were and took them whilst living on site so no official theft had to make a civil case and get him back for it and well aint worth the cost on top of what we already lost so i dont have one anymore and if he is ever caught in wa theres a few people who want to talk nice to him

Still see quite a few on the road, my oldest one uesd everyday is 33 years young while the newest one I have is 30. The cabs usually rust long before the chassis drivetrain go and hence why these ones are loaded into containers and reborn in India with new cabs. The SML truck company build a new version of my 89 model so parts are still plentiful. Some other useless info for those interested..... Strange history re the engines, the 6 and 4 cylinder models from the 80s had the Perkins built diesels. Where as the later late 80s to late 90s had a Mazda built Perkins design diesel. The Mazda diesel was originally designed by Perkins diesels to use in the Landrover but because of UK restrictions ??? Perkins couldn't (or didn't want) have their own engine competing with the mazda built version in the UK hence why they only appeared in the middle east,India, Japan and Australasian regions. The HA 3.0Ltr Perkins diesel short block is identical to the 3.5ltr SL Mazda built diesel. 4.0ltr and 4.6ltr are just overbored versions of the 3.5ltr SL. The 3.5SLT factory turbo version is a rare slight. The HA is an indirect injected diesel while the Mazda SL is a direct injected version. Suttle ways to tell them apart is the Perkins HA has wiring and glowplugs alongside the rocker cover and the cooling intake and outlet hoses are on opposite sides. The rocker covers were also different colours. Such a highly unrated truck. 2019 SML shown below

Yes does slowsnake.
Not so keen on all the plastic up front but atleast they are still around. Inside looks identical to my 89 model on the left. (92 right) Newer model uses an older Isuzu cab.

93 should have a rotary injection pump which were quieter than the inline Kikki pump. They changed the injection pump and pistons in May 92.

My daughter and her partner, helping out Parks and Wildlife in the Kimberley.
Apparently some are being minced up into sausages to feed to animals in the wild to develop a aversion to eating them. The sausages won't kill them, just upset their tummy a bit.

About 4 or 5 years ago they were dropping baby toads ahead of the adults travelling west so that the predators that ate them would only get sick as opposed to die by eating an adult toad, and therefore get a chance to train their young not to eat them. They were also saying as theyve gone north and then west that they have evolved and are quite different physically and energy wise.
