How does someone walk out through the customs hall and into genpop to be able to catch a taxi over to the domestic terminal? There is no domestic transfer, no international arrivals, so how is that door even open? That would all be Federal wouldn't it? Then there is the people themselves. No way that they didn't know what they were doing was wrong. Couldn't possibly have been a mistake. There should be a hefty fine for them. I didn't agree with the way the Victorian govt was slammed and don't really agree with slamming NSW either.

I also noted that Andrews didn't lay into NSW during his presser, he at least displays a bit of class.

During the VIC presser this morning, Sky News "journalist" Gabriela Power asked Andrews a question on Victoria's contact tracing app (Services Victoria App) which apparently had a technical issue.
https://twitter.com/Qldaah/status/1335390098632806403 Is this what they call 'good journalism'?? Meanwhile in NSW, there's corruption and scandals left and right, Visa's and citizenships being handed out for cash, pork barrelling, love affairs with corrupt politicians, not isolating when supposed to, airports and borders with an open door policy it seems, etc, etc. Why aren't these so called journalists at the Berejiklian / Hazzard pressers? |

A commentator on one of the news articles said they might have "connections". Rumour is that boarding pass was printed before they departed from their original place. Meaning, they knew they would be allowed to go from Syd to Melb, skipping quarantine in NSW, before they left.
I stress, this was just one commentator....so no proof. |

Daniel Andrews says he is 'accountable for any mistakes' in Victoria's Covid-19 hotel quarantine https://www.theguardian.com/australi...tel-quarantine Now, if you are talking about the deaths in aged care.....well.....my cousin works for Regis, you probably don't want to know who they are quietly blaming. And since you brought it up again, BTW did anyone ever own up to the Newmarch deaths? Or is it less important because the number was 100? |

Well , to be fair, Tickford and yourself ripped the scab off again. You’ve been niggling for days... Victoria’s incompetence dispatched 850 of our fellow Australians and damn well nearly took the rest of the nation down with them if not for the decisive and immediate action of NSW, QLD and WA. You can’t revise that from history. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Judging by some of the posts on this page I'll be really glad when school starts tomorrow morning.
We may get some grownup posts then.

A bit more of a dive into the USA numbers.
North Dakota has the highest identified infection rate with 10,837 cases per 100k of population although South Dakota (9,446) isn't far behind. For comparative purposes, the US national average is 4,525/100k and Australia is 109/100k. Maine (975) and Vermont (779) are the two lowest and the only states below 1k/100k cases. New Jersey has the highest mortality rate with 195 deaths per 100k population, with New York (180), Massachusetts (157), Connecticut (144) and Louisiana (141) all well above the national average of 86.95/100k (Australia is 3.5). At the other end of the scale Vermont (12.6/100k), Oregon (23.9), Utah (28.6) and North Dakota (29.8) are the only mainland states below 30/100k although Hawaii (18.5) and Alaska (19.3) are also under that number. The third metric; case mortality rate (CMR), is really starting to look more like a measure of how well the hospital system copes with an outbreak because (as we have noted previously) the real CMR is probably somewhere around 1-2% and significant deviations from that are either based on low testing volumes (which make it look worse than it really is) or 'creative' classification of deaths (which make it look better). That aside, the US national CMR is 1.92% which is better than our 3.248% but there are four states over 4%: Connecticut (4.03), Massachusetts (4.35), New Jersey (4.71) and New York (4.76). Conversely, there are several states below 1%: Utah (0.44), Wyoming (0.72), Nebraska (0.87), Oklahoma (0.88), Wisconsin (0.9) and Idaho (0.94).

Again on the “pop COVID” front, the news story about Dr Joseph Varon, of Texas, is that interesting conundrum of humanity vs risk.

Data valid as at 23:59 GMT December 6th, 2020.
Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting. 9 new cases for Australia and 0 deaths so the CMR drops to 3.247%. NSW recorded 5 cases with Queensland and WA recording 2 each. No new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.203% and active cases drop to 56. The UK had a higher 17,271 cases yesterday. We know they are now not counting their mortalities by the WHO guidelines so we are going to ignore the CMR but even using their method they recorded 231 deaths. Just over 21k new cases in the USA yesterday and 2,258 deaths sees CMR drop to 1.921% and active cases drop to 39.4% with the raw numbers rising and now over 5.9M. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences. Other notable points: Global cases pass 67M with the last 1M taking 2 days; The USA passes 15M cases; The USA completes 207M, India 146M, Russia 79M, Italy 23M, France 21M, Indonesia 6M, Netherlands 5M and Mexico 3M tests. It's the weekend so only - Uruguay (338); South Korea (631); and Russia (26,039) ... recorded new daily highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive days.
