I think you'd have to say that the average buyer isnt interested in owning a Falcon at all.

This last Falcon more or less is being pitched at enthusiasts more than Mum and Dad buyers. That ship sailed long ago (the Mum and Dad buyers)

I think the fg/ fgx interior isn't a bad place to sit in terms of dash layout, but the difference that the piano black fascia makes is huge. I hope the new xr8 has the black dash fascia, it's just makes it feel more upper.

That would be more my angle, if the new ICC didn't hiss then that'll be a winner. I don't mind the MK2 ICC, but it does seem a bit dated sometimes.

I agree that the piano black facia makes a huge difference to how the inside of the cabin feels. I'll probably be getting the silver ones in my GT painted piano black.

Might be easier to replace, from a wreck etc.
Don't forget the ICC has to be piano black, also....

Sat in HWP-150 - the 400kW RSpec Cop Car, at All Ford Family Day, and the first thing i noticed was how well the gloss black ICC, console and spears suited the FG, very nice.....

I think if you already have (black) leather trim, it's feasible, but cloth ('Silverstone' on GT) and silver spears work well, and have been known to get favourable comments from high-end (BMW X6, for one example) drivers, as the combination is pretty unique - in it's own way.
FG's are so good, we (FG owners) are always at risk of taking them for granted (unless you demand gay accessories like 'keyless entry' jeeeeeeezzzzzus!!!!!) :-)

Incredible. Half of the article is crapping on about how the Falcon is a dead car walking, that Ford is closing its factories, and Holden had a similar system. What-a-******.

Sadly I’d have to agree with that.

I live in an ordinary middle class suburban street and out of about 60 cars there are only 3 Fords.
A fairly new FG Ute, a Territory and one of the last of the Fairlanes owned by an old retired Golf fanatic.
As far as Holdens go there are 4 VE’s (2xSS, 1xCalais, 1xSportswagon), no VF’s and an old VX used as a shop and school runner.
The rest is mainly made up of a 50/50 mix of sedans and SUV’s from mostly Jap/Asian brands, Toyota, Mazda and Nissan having the most representation with 2 Euros (2xMercedes) and about a half dozen Jap work Utes thrown into the mix.
So you are right, mums and dads in my street are not buying Ford nor are they buying new Holdens.

Sad it has come to this but even so, the new XR8 Falcon will soon be the best bang for buck performance car on the Aussie market.

I should add, I have an old XY, the only classic old car in the street.

We own the only Fords in the street, and apart from a VY ute, that's it for the Aussie made stuff. The rest are mainly Jap/Korean imports.

Dad used to drive Falcons, now drives a Suzuki Grant Vitara. In laws used to own a Territory, now drive an iX35. Australia is abandoning its locally manufactured cars in droves, it really isn't any surprise that manufacturing is ceasing after witnessing this first hand.

This interior looks like a step back from the Limited Edition FGII interior. I'm not seeing any material improvements, enhanced textures, new buttons, or anything for mentioning for that matter ... as an FGII owner looking to upgrade I'm really disappointed if that's all there is to the "new" interior

E.g.

That's because his DNA won't allow a positive Ford-only story go through. He has to add something that scales back a positive only story. I only hope Ford get the XR8 out before any performance upgrade is made to the SS because the best ever times for the SS will be destroyed by the new XR and any sudden performance improvement by the test SS fleet without any mention of power increase will be hard to accept by even the most diehard Holden fan.

I know, a way to fix it is for Ford to replace their badge with an Audi badge.

Looks far better than the Korean looks that the rear of another locally designed and built car has.
