That photo is of the finished production ready dashboard.
They sort of ran out of money in trying to freshen it up

Yes, takes a man to admit that. Good work.

The bulge isn't big enough for mine
Looks smaller than what we're used to although does go all the way up to the back of the bonnet |

I'd say XR8 will def be going up against the SSV redline by the looks of those brakes. I'd expect about 60k driveaway?

How is the Commodore SS meant to compete with the driveline of the XR8? ha

I'm sure the SS will magically become as fast as the GTS when the comparisons with the XR8 start.

Is there room in the market for a lux pack when they wont have many of the power plants?
I believe ford said there would only be one model XR8 and I'd expect they will want to ship as many of them at as higher price as possible. Just a thought, of course the precedent certainly says the base XR8 will be cloth and basic with a luxury upgrade option.

Yours wasn't an opinion. There's a difference. And why single me out? Others share my view.

Until Ford have the sales on the board the SS will continue to be more successful. They havent had to put up with their brand being chopped and discontinued.

Everyone can have one but starts to border on Ford bashing just for the hell of it. It does get a little offensive to those who come here to enjoy their Fords and in this thread, Falcons in particular.

Just to confirm. Are they using the same front bumper for all models?

I saw GTF in the flesh today, and had a good look at the 9" rear wheel. The rear wheel on that blue XR8 looks to have the same dish in the centre...

[QUOTE=fgpsi;5192526]The bulge isn't big enough for mine
What do you mean by 'for mine'. That is a possessive pronoun that is particularly misused on bogan football shows.

Looks great, especially in that blue and those rims. The bulge isn't as pronounced as I thought it was going to be, though obviously the low camera angle plays a part in that.
Can't wait to see one in the flesh! Mustn't be long now. |

Looking again at the bulge, it's reasonably high, but rises sharply.
As one of the previous posts suggested, could be converted to Cowl Induction!

It's interesting how people want to pick on a car that isn't on the show room floor yet. It doesn't have keyless ignition/push button start, the interior is too dated, the bulge isn't big enough and on and on it go's. I'm sure ford Australia only had so much coin to play with so they have done the best their budget would allow.Mabey we should feel luckily that we are able to talk about the new falcon because this is going to be the last time. If keyless ignition is a must in a ford then wait for the incoming yank models I'm sure they will mostly all have it. I own a Audi SQ5 now but I'm a ford man at heart and I would love to own one of the new FGX XR8's but that won't be happening(winning lotto could fix that). As others have said,it is a ford forunm and there is no need for people to be bagging the crap out of the new falcon. Everyone has their own likes and expectations. If it's not to your taste then there are 50 odd makes of car sold in Australia and 300+ models to choose from.

Will Ford have official/unofficial unveiling at Sandown or Bathurst?
Ford would have seen the success of the GTF sales and have realised that 2 primary groups will be purchasing the last Falcon. Hire companies and Enthusiasts. So the 'povo' pack for hire companies and the remainder will be a mix of performance seeking individuals and sentimental enthusiast's. I am sure they will leverage off the Sandown/Bathurst events. Which one though! .

I won't make it to the mountain this year unfortunately, but that would be a pretty rad thing to do.

If you enlarge the photo you will see a new higher resolution screen in the Terry dash. The video clip shows a much improved Sync2 demonstrated. |
