As much as we would like to deny it we are dependent on the global economy and our employment levels will not return to normal until the nine million tourists and the eight hundred thousand foreign students return. If you expect them to arrive with a vaccination certificate in hand then they have the same right to expect you to do the same when you travel.
There is no Australian solution to this pandemic, only a global solution. |

Facebook and YouTube.
It's where the mentally unstable went to seek out the "real news" and the "truth" that the MSM wasn't letting them know about. Armed with all this truthful news, they are now "woke" to the "ways of the world". |

Why not; we did for smallpox and now it's gone. It will take a couple of years but covid could be gone too, as long as anti-vax nutters don't stuff it up.
Disappointing to see the UQ vaccine abandoned, it was looking good at first. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-...doned/12973656 |

Data valid as at 23:59 GMT December 10th, 2020.
Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting. 7 new cases for Australia and 0 deaths so the CMR remains 3.243%. NSW recorded 4 cases, Queensland 3 and Tasmania recorded 1. No new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.198% and active cases remain at 55. The UK had a higher 21,054 cases yesterday. We know they are now not counting their mortalities by the WHO guidelines so we are going to ignore the CMR but even using their method they recorded 516 deaths. Just over 228k new cases in the USA yesterday and 3,296 deaths sees CMR drop to 1.882% and active cases remain 39.8% with the raw numbers rising and now over 6.2M. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences. Other notable points: Global cases pass 70M with the last 1M in 1 day; The USA passes 16M cases; USA set a new daily record for deaths with 3,296; Europe passes 19M cases; Asia passes 18M cases; The USA completes 214M, India 150M, Russia 81M, Germany 30M and Bulgaria 1M tests. Uruguay (383); Finland (840) - 36% above the previous high; Albania (873); Belarus (1,939); Malaysia (2,234); Denmark (3,132) - 22% above the high yesterday; Japan (2,733); Lithuania (3,330); and Germany (28,179) - 18% above the high yesterday ... all recorded new daily highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive days.

Gaso, curious, why delete my post??
I was stating that the number of COVID deaths in the USA overnight is more than the total deaths during 9/11. And in matter of hours, will pass 300'000 deaths in the USA alone. All on Trumps watch, while he feels the need to dance. What was so 'not needed' about my post that it had to be completely deleted? Is it not COVID related? |

Whether you like to believe it or not, Trump played major part in the COVID numbers being what they are today in the USA. The USA is currently in the situation they are in mostly due to Trumps behaviour/mishandling. And, at almost every Trump rally/mass gathering, he would be dancing like a f**king clown, while his people were dying in big numbers. As if he was totally ignorant to the situation he put his country in. Almost proud even. |

He indirectly boosts the work of his despised (by him) brother. But that’s for another thread - and I hope, a “feel good” post in coming weeks.
Israel is just kicking off Chanukah, it’s the last big convening for a few months. So their infection rates should start to plateau soon (I hope). |

It was a shame to hear about the news about UQ vaccine. It would have been great if we had of developed a vaccine of our own.
It looks like the Pfizer will be approved by the FDA soon in the US but then they have to worry about supply and getting people to have the jab. |

It's just typical of the people who like to bash trump. The public are also free to make up their own mind. No government makes health decisions that people can't make for themselves. There are millions of Americans taking this very seriously but that doesn't make for an exciting headline.

It always sucks when you have worked so hard on something and then funding gets pulled but in this case you need to back a horse that has better prospects. The rona 19 has shown that when very bright people work together, they can achieve great things. There have been vaccines that have been developed, gone through trials, and shown very high levels of efficacy in less than a year for a coronavirus of all things. I just wish there was more of this. |

The national cabinet was established to deal with this and for the most part we have dealt with it pretty good. Obviously given our experience it is a lot more complicated to go from from 6 states and 2 territories to 50+ in the US but it seems like Trump plays favourites and has no interest in establishing consensus. I don't think there has been any good faith approach to dealing with it in the US from Trump. By that I mean getting all the governors in a room physical or virtual like we have. Then as you say you have to get the public on side in a country that is taught from day one they are exceptional, have all these constitutional rights, and seemingly have no concept of collective responsibility. No wonder it is a cluster **** over there. |
