Not a bakery, but wow, they make everything on the premises, pasta, pastries and bread every morning.

Still trying to get over the fact , this small place "Young Baron's" was in Woy Woy.

I had the Pork fennel monster sausage roll, homemade relish on the side.
Just the right amount of herb and spices to compliment super crispy pastry.

Not expecting Bourke Street Bakery to be opened this morning down by barrangaroo. Good coffee spot too.

Had 2 Pork and Fennel sausage rolls sitting down finally in a beaut cooling southerly change.

I like the dryness of the meat in these, not so greasy compared to others I've had.

Occy was floating around nearby.

Yes it does, James Craig just out of shot, walk north along waterfront of King St Wharf precinct and you'll find it.

The old cruise ship departure point area, beautiful parklands along the entire walk, keep going and you'll end up at pier 8 then Pier 1 and Harbour Bridge.

Agree with Kevin, the sausage rolls look really well turned out.

Savouring the breeze here, too. Yesterday was much less pleasant.

We were in Port Elliot again yesterday.
Ive said it before, but I still cant get over the line that forms at the local bakery.
There's well over a 100 people outside trailing down the street.
I went off shopping, a walk on the beach and came back and its still just as crazy.
People walking out with a box full of bags, making the most of their visit.
I cant imagine any pastry is that good to wait that long for it.

Looking thru our pics from recent trip to Grampians and remembered this one was for here.
The pasty from the bakery in Dunkeld.
Fancy pastry and finish, inside had roasted caps, tasty and different.
They put each one in a bag then put each bag in their own folded box. Expensive and unnecessary tbh but couldnt fault their food

I've been waiting for a pie worthy of this thread for quite a while. Today I found it at PIK-A PIE.

By far, the best chunky steak pie I've ever eaten. Big chunks of steak n gravy throughout, from the first to the last mouthful. Was enjoying it so much that I nearly forgot about the photo.

But call ahead and check they are open. With Cav now on a diet some of these places have as a result gone bankrupt and closed.

Dropped into a new little Cafe bakery and bought a yummy looking cinnamon bun to go.
None of the goodies had prices on them, now I know why.
$9.90 should have said no thanks.
Got it home, couldn't finish it, too sickly sweet, tasted good at first.
But this seems to be a trend, not displaying prices, just pay wave without looking.

Must say I'm a little disappointed in this one, despite all the rave reviews in the good food guide.

Flour and Stone bakery in East $ydney this morning, I ordered 2 sausage rolls with relish on the side while my partner ordered a croissant and butter.

And of course there's no normal meat pies allowed in the CBD they all have to be some fancy chicken masala, beef rendang or some other weird concoction.

So second choice was the Pork and carraway seed sausage roll.

The pork was rather tasteless, all dried out inside while the pastry was greasy and not crispy. There was barely a taste of carraway considering how strong this herb usually is.

My partner loved the croissant as it was a perfect glass like shattering pastry, soft inside to take on the warmed salted butter.

Might just have been the wrong choice for me.

One left and what remains of the beaut croissant behind.

Interesting backdrop is the old art deco City FORD dealership.

We might give this bakery (BakeBar) at the Five Ways in Paddo a go next time.

First day at a new house sit in Ettalong Beach NSW so we decided to head back to somewhere we knew (see post #812) from last year while doing the shopping crap in Woy Woy.

"Young Barons" This place is still great, serving all home made deserts and baked goods. It's far from being a full on bakery and crosses over into local deli produce as well.

My partner had another crispy glass like croissant with french eggs. While I once again had the mega Pork and fennel sausage roll with relish.

The East $ydney place previously talked (up) about could do with some pointers from here on how to make a delicious crispy pastry.

Future visits are planned to sample the Madeleine's , tarts and brownies.

This could be dangerous discovering another beaut bakery within walking distance in Ettalong.

The Seaside Emporium is a tiny bakery that I note doesn't have any refrigerator displays, meaning everything made is fresh on the counter that day.

The last few days I've sampled the apple pie, raspberry danish and a chocolate Gateau.
Today it was the pies. The steak pies are a winner in my opinion with thick chunky pulled meat in a deep rich peppery gravy. The crust a crispy flaking top of goodness.
The sausage rolls will be next on the hit list if I can get past the pies.

Upcoming pie review to follow. This place has been here for 40 years now and still popular with the locals. Bremen in West St Unima.

https://www.bremenpatisserie.com.au/

Did sneakily sample an apple turnover last week, this one is tied equal best with Beechworth bakery.
No, won't be tasting the "Flaming Ron".

Anyone of the $ydneysiders who like to travel up to Woy Woy for fish and chip at the wharf could make the detour down to Umina.

SSSHHHH! Don't tell everyone.

Although I did meet Wherret a few times with his Advanced Drivers Course first at Warwick Farm and then at Amaroo in the early 70s
