If it was removed, car makers would use it as an excuse to add extra equipment, charge the same amount and pocket the extra as profit with the dealers.

Most bmw's and merc's don't pay lct due to the low fuel economy numbers they are running, they do this to avoid paying the lct, stop start feature brings down the average for example. Like someone mentioned earlier Toyota is the biggest manufacturer to be affected and mainly by Kluger grande and 200 series. They have been patitioning for it to be abolished for years.

I like the switch to a single red number or letter announcing the fact it's a performance model. Chucking 'Turbo' on the end of a model name is a bit '80's' if you know what I mean. |

If the vehicle has a combined-cycle fuel consumption figures below 7.0L/100km the LCT threshold increases from $61,884 to $75,375.

didn't know that one...Good info. Shame the FGX XR8 will be a little bit thirstier than that. My thoughts are the purchase price won't be far off $61000 should just scrape under if they (ford) dare I say it are smart at marketing lol

The new XR8 should be a lot (at least $8K -10K) cheaper than the last GT 335 - which was $65K INCLUDING On-Road costs / Drive Away.

Forgot to mention, the $65,000 Drive-Away Price on the last GT 335s also included full Leather Interior & Sat Nav.

That was only for 2 months or so wasn't it when they slashed 10k to get rid of them.. Normal GT price was mid 70's for the life of the GT i thought. Anything under 60k for the XR8 will be awesome value for money. Be a lot of motor car for 60k.

Well, ya know. Hopefully Ford will release some sort of specs on the new range before they close up in 2016.

The XR8 was usually over $20K cheaper than the FPV GT (the last one was $49,995 + On Roads in 2010), and the last GTs were $65K Drive-Away (under $59 K plus On road costs) partly at least because FPV were no longer a 51% shareholding entity - charging $15K-$20K per Car on top.

Chinese Whispers, to me, show what a great job, unusually, Ford are doing at feeding the launch out on this car.. It'd be a bit harsh if it HAD of been true...if they'd have offering the I/C option on XR8 and hadn't built it into GT-F.

I would expect the FGX XR8 to be the same price as the GS which was $57000 + ORC with no options.

The FG XR8 was the same price as the XR6T, although the 5.4 BOSS BA, BF & FG XR8 engines were built by FPV, an additional production cost for Ford, which is now done by Ford in-house, which would represent a significant cost saving. With FPV completely out of the picture and Ford the sole shareholder, the new XR8 represents a completely different business scenario, and vastly more efficient business model !
