The LS motors did well because people could get easy power from them (especially in the early days when they were detuned so much). The motor got a great rep and the BOSS could never get it, even when it is a great motor.

a lot of this is due to the LS motors being around for years before they even hit our shores. the development and aftermarket industry was already well advanced which is why a lot of good power upgrades and know how was readily available. the BOSS motor is in a way unique to australia, the way we have built it, and it takes time for tuners and 'the aftermarket' to develop various 'kits' for them. this doesn't really change the fact that the cars as they leave the factory are quite evenly matched in performance. the early LS1's and to a point LS2's were actually quite pathetic from factory, due to a lot of 'torque tags' in the ecu, among other things. a lot of peoples 'experience' with LS powered cars, are not standard so it skews the perception somewhat, meanwhile every 2nd publication is heaping dirt on the BOSS whilst the real world was telling a different story. |

I've owned both, an LS1 VY and a Boss 260 BA. Both motors were pretty healthy and both cars went very well. For a tiny country, we are blessed to have a choice.
