My wife and I got our acceptance emails today too! I registered her as well just in case partners weren't allowed to come along. Would have been a bugger if she got in and I missed out, seeing as the tickets aren't transferrable!!
The trip might work in well with picking up a new car (not a Falcon unfortunately - I already have 5 of those in my garage!!)
See you all there!! Should be a bit of fun....!!

Airport carpark ain't normally a place I'd choose to leave my vehicle, which is much less interesting than most coming along....but guess Avalon is pretty out of the way.....

Ex bro-in-law may still be one of the security guys there, if so, God help our cars!

Wouldn't exactly call this location "near Melbourne", but I presume that's where it will be or are they chartering a 747 to fly us out :P

Should be fun!

I recall it saying it was less than an hour from Melbourne, so I guess that still works.

Just a thought. How about a mini cruise to get there.
Start at the servo/maccas on the ring rd around 8 and we cruise there?

It doesnt mention anywhere that you actually 'have' to bring your car. I just have to get there somehow

I'm waiting to find out if we're allowed to bring guests or not. I would hope so but don't want to make plans for my wife to come if I have to leave her in Geelong.

Happy to get together for some photos if anybody wants some, I'm going to stay in Geelong on Thursday night and head out early Friday morning, then drive home after the event.

This is why I posted earlier about driving down in our daily's or our pride & joys as I personally think there could be a possiblilty why we have tickets for entry to a "secret location" as posted to me it sounds like You Yangs.

Anybody here who have been lucky enough to go in the past (You Youngs - Fords Proving Grounds) you cannot enter phones and cameras as this is a secure facility.

Look at the filming of the GT-F video it was at You Yangs let's say the is a big possibility that we will be transported or with our pride and joys to You Yangs ticket holders only to enter through the gates.

I know one thing Ford Australia is promoting the FGX with its employees and some of us Ford Enthusiats who are lucky to attend in person with our cars on later dates for the last ever Australian built Ford.

Assuming that it is Avalon, to a city boy that's almost the outback.

To a country boy it's just down the road

Given the requirement of photo ID to the airport, fair chance that's the primary, at least, location.

Going by the email map and a satellite view of Avalon Airport, it looks like it's directing to a carpark out the back of a hangar. (Perhaps it is secure, almost airside, parking)
I'm leaning towards it being a pick up point now.

First thing I'm asking when they call is about where our cars will be left for the entire day. If they are left somewhere open I'll be bringing the daily.

People from interstate flying in to Tullamarine should be able to get the airport shuttle to Southern Cross station, and the VLine train out to Lara/ Avalon. The train ride isn't so bad out there.

Earliest flight lands at 820am from Brisbane, so I'm grabbing an XR6 and tearing it up to Avalon, hoping to get there before 10am (would hate to be late, awkward!)
