Had Netflix for a few weeks now and the family loves it. I already had Optus with Fetch so it was easy. Find looking for shows easier on the laptop then saving them to your list. Will be looking at the Aldi Miracast stick today to play Netflix on the spare tv via a tablet.

Wrong.

@Damo...box even plays torrents etc while downloading them to internal hard drive.

TSmedia interface costs nothing and has more channels than Netflix.

But very technical to set up,

Torrents are peer to peer and files are downloaded in chunks and in no order so I don't see how you can play them while downloading. I think you are confused as to what a torrent is.

Foxtel downloads files server->client and start to finish and your IQ can start playing them immediately as long as you download faster than read for playback.

I am confused?

As usual you post crap that you know nothing about.

So back to the "ignore list" you go.

I was playing with it over the weekend and there were literally hundreds of channels to choose from, from all over the world. Including the pay TV stuff.

Needs internet, satellite dish and a box.

We have Netflix, got it the day it came out and we will be keeping it. The content has already grown and House Of Cards is the best show I have watched in a long time.

And the 8 year old in me loves that it has all the early Power Rangers seasons...!

Only thing foxtel that has is motorsports but ill stream my f1 and save $50 a month.

I mainly use my PC for netflix but alos have App for my xbox one so can use it on big TV. my connection is 15mps with some slight buffering/loading at start i can stream hd no problems

Anyone watch daredevil yet??

I suggest anyone that wants netflix hulu nowtv or any other streaming service invest in a dns service like unblock-us $5 per month greatly expands your content. For more discretion and other options also include a VPN service for another $5 a month and have no about data retention
I think your the one I want to talk to

Were just finishing off the new house now the NBNCO people are coming on Wednesday next week and the ISP are booked for Friday for their bit

We don't have a smart TV and wont be getting one until ours dies of natural causes (I don't "up date" TV's) my son has an Xbox 360 and some reading I've done on my phone (no wifi as I'm not in the house means I'm limited to my phone for most internet) tells me I need an xbox live account, my question is what level Xbox live account can I get away with the base account or do I need gold? (I really don't want to pay for that as I could buy a cromecast for less than the gold live account

Wouldn't be exactly cheap by the time you buy a sat dish, get it aligned, cable the house, add a receiver, build a linux machine.

The catch is that you need to pay a criminal to be able to decode the Foxtel stream. They will provide you access to a machine to decrypt the signal.

It's not just file sharing with the dubious copyright violation that will land you in civil trouble. People have been charged by the AFP over this little money making venture.

there's a lot of crap we'll never watch, but there's plenty there as well

On Saturday night the kids were watching some marvel movie and the wife and I were watching house of cards on her ipad (I best describe it as a Westwing meets Ferris Buller)

the xbox app works but if your not a console person its tedious to work with.

I'm looking at other options, I've just ordered a low rent casting devise (i'll use it in the small TV in the bedroom and see how it goes.

but casting off a device doesn't appeal to me as a good option for the main TV

how does Apple TV work, does it still need to take off my iPhone / pad or can I watch things like Stan and nexflix stand alone?

I have Apple tv to watch with and it is stand alone with no DNS changes needed. I tried Google thing but it was a fail for me because you have to play with the DNS on the modem.

Apple tv also has its own remote
