My missus is fantastic, she didnt know a great deal about cars when we first got together, but she's a quick learner.

She was a bit scared when the XC went on the dyno for the first time, but now likes guessing what the cars will make on the rollers!

She now wants to turbocharge her car, and do some driveline work too!

She will be driving my XR6T to Summernats ths year, as ill be driving the XC.

And i love her to bits.

Misses and I always fight over the money spent on my car....
But only cuz she wants it spent on hers. :

As has been stated, I love nothing more than a bunch of young clowns walking around our cars, talk crap, than asking me questions.(while the misses is standing there - like she is invisiable or something)

Then having her put them in their place....... oh yeah.

lol great thread! My wife and i have found that cars and Fords in particular is something we can become enthusiastic about together. We have joined a car club and really get enthusiastic about events and mods on the car etc.

It's a great way to strengthen the relationship by starting a hobbie up together. This just happens to be a rather expensive hobby but i can think of worse ones to be involved in...

XA-MONT, you have got a dead set keeper there!!!

My wife understands my interest in cars and involvement in the Coupe Club. She does enjoy the outings and the company. She also understands the Coupe is important to me and that it's an appreciating asset. It will never be sold unless it's an absolute necessity. She has grown to love the Coupe too, we had it parked next to the gazebo at our wedding (her idea!!). She is not a car person herself by any means but has become quite good at picking old Fords, particularly XA-XC series. She knows the kind of money needed to do various things so everything is run by her. I am no good with money, she is. She knows I want another engine for the Coupe but it will not happen for a long long time, there are many more pressing priorities.

If I were still on my own I would probably have the Coupe re-engined, a Pursuit Ute in the driveway and other toys, I would also have a mortgage double what I have now and really suffering from interest rate stress!!

I love my wife.

My missus hates it. She saw my xr6 before I did (before I bought it)and was trying to get me to walk the other way so I wouldnt see it (cause she knew I would buy it) and was telling me to test drive an Astra.

I dont mind girls who know and talk about cars, but I cant stand the one eyed Holden girls who dont know anything bout cars and can only say Fords are crap without giving a proper reason.

My missus drives a VP exec with mags, hard-like-a-rock lowered suspension, exhaust tip (only the tip), pod filter (sitting in the middle of the engine bay), hectic sub, a billion air fresheners, painted dash and a "Babe On Board" sticker... sometimes I want to puke. To top it all off that is how the car was when she bought it, she knows nothing about mods. Her brother has a VN HSV with aftermarket exhaust, mags, and stereo. Again, bought it like that, seems pretty clueless about mods. Actually in both cases the parents bought the cars for them..

She also thinks the VP is some sort of performance car. I drove it back from a party once when she'd had a couple of drinks (she's on P plates, I'm not) and my god... I've driven work vans that went harder. My brother used to have a VN Calais but I'd forgotten just how hopeless VN-VS V6s were.

Luckily, she doesn't mind me splashing money on the car. Most of the stuff I've spent money on since I met her has been fixing stuff though. I got all the good bits done before she came along

my missus also has a VP ... we both treat it like a piece of ... cause it is :P she has dinted it a fair few times. but its her car so she can do what she likes. (she just has to get a bit more experience and then i will salary sacrifice something nice when the vp dies)

its got pretty good economy on gas... so thats a good point... about the only good point :P

BTW... i tend to treat it like a performance car... just cause i dont car

BTW

I have just about got the coupe how i would like it, the only thing is that the wife is dropping subtle hints that she would like to crack a low 14 or high 13 in HER XR8.
Chris at Bluepower does'nt help my cause with his suggestions.

My Missus is English and doesn't understand Aussie culture especially the car enthusiast scene. She always has as a go at me for being too Aussie and using too much slang (jokingly), but I tell her I can't help it as I grew up in a small country town. But she does support me in everything I do, and plan on doing in the future (XR-XY Resto).

Well from this thread I think i'm glad I don't have one, but I really do need something else to spend my money on, just don't know if I go that much to spend on her!

I am looking for a girlfriend, i'm picky, so she at least has to like my car, good thing is though, most females I know, love my car. It's even got the nickname "Sweet Peice of Beastful Machinary" from one of them, then I said "Does that resemble me as well?"...which got no answer, she just walked off...

Doesn't have an interest in it anymore. Complained a few times about me spending more time cleaning the car than I spent with her. Reckons I love the car more than I do her....... : Still, its funny to listen to......its just not true, is it?
I had to revert to being a 'closet cleaner' only when she wasnt around.

My missus gets ****ed off with me for referring to the car as a "her". That's about it.

Best trick is to get them into cars. I taught my missus to do burnouts and now I have permission to buy whatever the hell I want. :

Yeah I chew my missuse ear off about cars sometimes I'm worse than a bloody woman but she takes it all in. Some friend of hers boyfriend had a crappy VK and was going on about how crap Fords are. My missuses shot back about how his 202 wasn't even crossflow and struggles to do 0-100 in under 10 seconds and that the equivalent XE was bigger, faster and more fuel efficient

Another one of her friends boyfriends had a VT Ecotec and was going on about how awsum V6's are. She shot back about the dynamic imbalance inherent in V6's etc. He looked like he was going to cry

The other day some was saying how Holdens are awesome because the badge has a lion with a racing helmet. My missus was like "whatever it's not a helmet it's pushing a wheel because Holdens break down"

I like to let my missus drive and let her clean up the Ricer and Commowhore brigade. You should see the look on their face when their "fully hectic Lancer" is cleaned up by a young woman who spends half the time looking in the mirror fixing her hair

Heres my lady getting into it.

Removing windscreen chrome from a xb sedan.

Helping remove a motor from a xc fairmont. Here she is holding the driveshaft while I snap a pic. She was wondering why I was taking so long....lol.

Yep she loves the old falcons.

Cheers,
