: Well the utes gone back in for a second attempt at getting it right. I'm a little worried about it as I have lost faith in their ability to do the job correctly and not shonky added to which I am now definitely not their favourite person in the world. Why is it when a panel beater is caught out in a lie their standard response is to throw it back at you and say "well, I was trying to help you out by doing this because of that"??? In my case THIS is a repaired guard that should of been replaced with a NEW one but wasn't because they put on a {THAT**** second hand (originally claimed to be NEW til today as was the guard) door instead of a new skin because the re-skinned door could rust down the track. Now they know this and they knew I wanted a primo job so why quote for the skin in the first place?? Add to this the paint is too dark (obvious when out of direct sunlight), Tub hasn't been removed to spray around the back properly, New filler cap has not been sprayed properly and has rub throughs on the corners and to top it of is starting to rust behind due to lack of cover, the NEW/2nd hand door was not prepped properly and has scrapes on the corners which have been hit with touch up paint and then cleared over along with runs and chips on the inside. Also has not been repainted with the rest of the wrong colour that is on the P/S now so is a different colour to the rest of the side (but almost a dead match for the correct colour.) Overspray all over the rear P/S chassis. The door mouldings were falling off and little things like the some of the plugs for the mud spats were not put back in. :
It better come back clean and right or WAR shall be declared in the most literal sense of the word.

Cheers
Glenn

Not Good....

How could it go wrong when you were there everyday checking on the progress?

This smells of a AAMI claim?

Thanks everyone for your support. Got the quotes today and looking to be in the $4500 to $5500 mark. They said they'll replace the front guard and door skin and the rest will be beat/pulled out to as straight as posible and have minimal filler to smooth it. I'm told it'll be good as new and if I look behind the pannel when it's finished I'll be hard pressed to see it was repaired. That's what I like to hear. Hopefully it'll be in by the middle of January and still be ready for the upcoming shows. Gonna get the front bar respreyed (again) while their at it to kill the stone chips.

Cheers

Incorrect. I was in Queensland visiting the folks for most the time it was in for repairs. It was spose to be ready when I got back but ended up being there for another week. I told them it was ok as long as it was done right to take as much time as they needed on it. I was in Qld for 2 weeks so they had it for 3 and a bit weeks.
Cheers

Ask for a copy of the quote and a copy of the paid invoice as its your right to have them so you can check what has exactly been done to your car.

I forgot to add that if you cant get it off the repairer get it off your insurer.......

They may tell you that you cant have it as customers dont usually ask for the copies but.....

1> you need it to check if what was quoted was actually repaired
2> you need it for proof of what has been repaired when you sell it
3> you need it so if anything goes wrong with the repairs over time of their warranty you have proof of what was repaired and when

Just realiased that I never posted in this thread the out come. When I got it back it was PERFECT. The paint is the right colour, Front guard had been replaced with a new one and the door was re-skinned and looked totally factory. All other little problems had been corrected and it now looks as good as new. So the Boys at Hurstbridge Motor Body Repairs do a great job and if there are any problems you can count on them fixing it with no drama and done right. Not going to post pics as the ute is silver and the pics of the earlier job with the slightly wrong colour look the same - any imperfections obviously (that you cant see in a photo!).
Cheers

Nope. The guys that originally done it got it right. Also appologise for any confusion and inconvieniance. Have also since painted up 6 more tube plugs (blinds for where the toneau straps go) for me as some @$$hole stole one out of mine. Now I have spares incase.
Cheers

Daz- Firstly, welcome back dude. Bit of both mate. I all but bit their heads off when I went back with the problems, but to their credit they were understanding and determined to do a top job. Would go there again now I know they can do A1 work and they know who they're dealing with. lol

Jas- Agree'd but it seems most, well, businesses these days will try one on if thet can and you just gotta get on em. Some get the point straight up when you start dealing others not. The bad ones are the mobs that just say tuff mate.
Cheers
