Like others have said it seems like someone has it in for you big time. Were any adjacent cars damaged? If not then its funny that they would only target your car? It's not as if it stands out being a stock standard BA Fairmont Did you cut someone off or fail to give way to anyone on your trip there?

It's also surprising the lengths they went to, by damaging every panel with both dents and keying. Surely someone would have seen or heard the commotion.

At least you were insured and presumably had this car as a knockabout car to use instead of your GT, so would be less bothered by any damage to it that if it were happen to your pride and joy.

Good luck mate

Windale it would've been stripped &/or burnt as well though, you got lucky.

Some people probably would've heard something, but most wouldn't care, the others would fear for their life if they did something about it & was found out.

I have done work around that area many times, & there are some very nice people, living in unfortunate situations in & around the Dept. Housing places. A big chunk of those around there, you wouldn't brake for them if they walked on the road in front of you. You'd only stop to save damage to your car, not for them.

I used to do contract repair work for the NSW Dept. Housing & seriously you wouldn't believe some of the things I've seen & the way some people live. It's not nice to say, but we're helping breed these types of people, who'll then breed more. I know of some places with 3 or 4 generations of these types of people living on centerlink payments in public housing.

Ahhh, so you'd be familiar with Kingstown Road ?

Man, that is just the pits big time. I'm sorry that this has happened to you.

Thats seriously targeted hate there. Maybe they thought it was one of the local unmarked cop cars? Or maybe mistaken identity? Either way, its no excuse. Scumbags.

I reckon that it was just unlucky that your car was there. If someone elses was there it would of happened to it too. Punting that it was just a group of young skaters or just a group of young vandals with no respect in general decided they wanted to wreck the car while walking by, or just seen it there being a sitting duck while off on ice or some drug aswell as been drinking, then just went to town on it. Either way clearly a group effort and definatley a write off.
Hood luck with the search of a replacement car. Can be kinda exciting looking for something

Also unfortunate that these people get to have a say in how our country is run when clearly they have no intention of positively contributing to it in any way.

Looking at those photos makes me sick. It's quite disturbing to think how easily people can do something like that to somebody else's property without remorse or care.

Hopefully it all works out for the OP in the long run.

That is dead set disgusting......

Stupidly enough, I believe that there are people around that would do that to the Fairmont, just because it is a Ford.
More-so the younger of our population, rahter than older.

That might be a fair bit of a generalisation, but I'm talking of the ones that are yet to get a car, or a job, or a life, etc, etc...

Its getting that way now that I am very particular about where I take mine, and will go without staying somewhere, just so that I know they are locked up safe at home.

I hope it all works out for you.

a guy from my VW club also got his beetle trampled all over the roof and bonnet while parked out the front of his house.

a mate and i were cruising around in the city (sydney) one night and his mini broke down just off george st, so we pushed it to lane way and waited for the nrma to show up, while we were in the car we heard a few drunk teenagers comming down the lane, one of them decided to do a running jump over a commodore, starting on the bonnet and running over the roof, finnaly landing on the boot. we got out of the mini to their surprise and yelled at them, WTF ARE YOU DOING?? never seen anyone run so fast.. we gave chase but had to get back to the mini that was left unlocked with thousands of dollars worth of stereo gear.

so no one needs a reason these scumbags dont think they just do. its ****** because ppl like the OP will be paranoid as hell of leaving their car anywhere

i know i am

Bit of an update. Car was towed to a local smash repair for a quick assessment and didn't make it off the truck, after a few quick sums he said it's not worth doing for the amount of work and $ involved.

Then taken to AAMI's yard where it was looked at by them and now there assessor is saying its borderline for repair and waiting on a quote from another panel shop either tomorrow or wed.

Im just in two minds now, if it can be repaired than great but given the level of damage and with maybe all but one panel getting replaced and a full respray i dont see how another shop can do the work cheaper without cutting corners and doing sub standard work.

Have to wait and see i guess.

Don't accept for a repair, push the insurance company for a write off..

Can this actually be done ? I just figured respray alone would be $3-$4k easy? I havent got a clue when it comes to smash repair costs.

Because it was vandalised pushing for a write off is not in your best interests.
It just gives them a reason to poke a finger at you.

Some people are just plain thoughtless. I had someone jump on the roof of my old mk2 Escort years ago, I ended up finding the guy who did it and confronted him about it, re. threatened to knock his lights out, he promptly offered me money for repairs! Unfortunately most times whoever the lowlife is gets away with it, my GT-P had a window smashed last year out the front of my house while I was having dinner. Ever since then i've been paranoid about the car being anywhere other than my garage.

I had less damage from hail and it would have cost $8,500 to repair. Still had it's windows too. Can't see this one been saved. I would be very surprised if they fixed that.

So sorry for you mate, I'd love to catch the bastards and do some panel beating on them, that is an absolute disgrace, there's no way they could possibly have known what they were doing, I guess it's a good thing it was just a car and not a person that copped the beating :( I agree with others, definitely looks like a write off, but just go with the flow of what the insurance company says and don't try to push a write off claim, it could end up slowing down the whole process

Yeah valid points. As i said im just hoping they just dont opt for a repair due to a cheap quote and im left with the possibility of having to stuff around getting work redone.

Anyway nothing i can do but let it play out.

In the meantime i will enjoy driving the powerhouse that is the Nissan Tiida hire car.

the Holden Driver & I were at Panfers one night, saw some yobs that the so- called security had just ejected running up & over the cars in the carpark as they ran down to maccas. Security guys stood there & watched them, & said & did nothing. We passed the comment "some security guards they are", & the reply was a shrug & the comment "its not inside, not our problem".

I just dont know why people do this.

My mrs car was scuffed at train station and i was furious. I just cant comprehend why someone would do this extent of damage.

It just disappoints sometimes at how the human race disrespects one another.

unfortunately some of these young blokes don`t need a reason to destroy others property, i think one reason some do it is , they like the thrill of doing something naughty then running away, it`s sort of a cheap thrill for them,
i was near my letter box one day , had my au xr parked out front, two teenagers walking towards me down the footpath, they did`nt see me,
one was fidgeting swinging his arms back and forth, he saw my car and headed over towards it, then swung his arms back and squatted ready to jump on my bonnet, i shouted to him go on , he did`nt know which way to look,
i`m sure his mate did`nt know he was going to do it, i don`t think it was pre determined, just a dumb kid, i`d never seen the kid before, never seen him since.

You've obviously haven't been to downtown Woodberry. Thats exactly the behaviour of drunken and drugged teens over there. It's definately not the first car thats been trashed like that in that area. the insurers arnt that stupid as they know they have to carry the warranty of the repair in the long term

I had one that was a no fault claim a while ago, the repairer it was towed to gave a silly lowball quote price, the insurer (GIO) thought hmmmm and had it towed to them where I got a phone call pretty quickly saying come and get my personal effects and plates, I think you will find it will be the same in this case
