Ahh it all makes sense now. All that stuff that you learn in physics about resonance in tubes closed/ open at an end. Resonance is whereby the external source causes an object to vibrate at its natural frequency hence amplifying the sound.

LOL this threads a crack up!

Does anyone else here not laugh when people "dose" going down a busy street. Seriously, Sunny your car isn't over the top so no one is suspecting the noise, keep them guessing I say.

Its not so much the sound, its the douche bag doing the dose'ing and where they do it. In Geelong people do it on Pako Street, which is like a try hard Lygon...lol

In a VL we've achieved nice noise by mounting the air flow meter on cooler pipe. Modified throttle body helps too.

And I dont want to be a Dose-Nazi (tm), but isn't that just going to attract undercover cop action? That would be a PIA going through RWC again.

Yep it always puts a smile on my face, especially if it comes from a small riced up car. Interesting thread though, i wouldn't mind seeing what decision you make sundeep with the pipes on your car. Its something that makes drving a little bit more fun.

heres a question, can a turbo v8 dose? i have never seen or heard of one doing it!!.

Anything with a turbo can dose, and if it doesn't their not trying hard enough!

I don't dose on busy streets.

I dose right next to the windows of Jap cars, VL's and any other done up car or chick lol. Then I watch 'em go : That's why I need a better dose, to make that moment more impressive e

there sure are some arrogant people 'round these parts....

back on topic, why not put a 'T' junction in the dose/pose pipe, and run each end to opposite sides of the car (ie exiting behind both headlights), that way if you're in the middle at a set of lights on a 3lane road you can make the VL drivers on both sides blow their loads. that is the desired result isnt it?

if you had two turbos on a 6cyl, each mounted on their own 3-1 manifold and seperate airfilters/intake pipes, would you get double the dosage? would it sound much different to a single turbo 'dosing'?

I don't think that T junction/pipe to each side idea would work. It'd just turn in to a quiet waffle when it got to both ends, or just dose out of the closer side.

Ben??? What are you talking about mate?? Put a bit too much herb in your rolly tonight?

Someone said you cant just use the same ways to "dose" with a falc 4.0L as with a RB30.

Why is that?

Different firing order, larger displacement, different airflow/ harmonic frequency through the inlet?

I always wondered why you only really see VLs dosing. When i had my 180sx it would do hardcore flutter but no dose. I thought the BOV made the dose anyway? Like those guys that put a duck whistle over it to change from a whistle to a quack

its cause the 4.0 isnt gay and it resists attempts to make it act as such, regardless of the drivers life choices.
