they didnt want to run it tomorrow incase something bad happens and they get blamed for something (11th september 2008)

21st october is when they collide some particles

didnt they say that they wanted to test the "big bang" theory using this device and see the origins of life or something?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider

The collider is currently undergoing commissioning while being cooled down to its final operating temperature of approximately 1.9 K (−271.25 °C). Initial particle beam injections were successfully carried out on 11 August 2008[2][3]and the first attempt to circulate a beam through the entire LHC is scheduled for 10 September 2008 at 7:00 UTC.[4][5] This event will be webcast.[5][4] The first high-energy collisions are planned to take place after the LHC is officially unveiled, on 21 October 2008.[6]

worry about it in October. :togo:

If the plan is to accelerate particles to near light speed (C) and collide them, the two particles will be approaching each other at nearly 2 C . This might just prove Einstein wrong.

Read in the paper today that within one second the particles will have done over 11,000 laps of the 27km loop. You could say thats fast.

Another load of crap like the Y2K scare when we rolled into the year 2000. They said everything was going to come to a crashing halt... planes would fall out of the sky.. we wouldn't be able to get fuel because transport vehicles wouldn't work... what a joke!

lol so its all done and were alive, thank god, i was really crapping it to tell use the truth, so i guess what i read was right, its just another way to make more money, eg if they were just goin to say what they were gonna do noone will give a damn, but if they say the worlds gonna end, more sales more hits of news which equals more money.

Two cuties in the lift this afternoon were talking about the "hardon collision" that is going to happen tonight. Had to really bite my tongue. :
Oh and when it does happen they will tell everyone that it reversed global warming and now we shall have global cooling.
