a couple of seasons a go, we used the Shell Vpower 100 R in the race car, it was far better than the other 2 Vpower revisions, and far better than the BP Ultimate and Caltex Vortex 98.
But they stopped making the Vpower 100 R, and we have a restriction on fuel in our division, so it has to be pump fuel.
We went back to Vortex 98 because we'd heard good things about it. We tuned for it and went thru a few race meetings, but 3 weeks ago we put the car on the dyno and got a test tin with Ultimate 98 in it, and Vortex 98 in the car. We gained 2 hp when we ran the Ultimate. The whole curve was fatter, and each run seemed to gain a little more.

So now we will only be using Ultimate 98.

This may not be relevant to a street car as we are almost always on full throttle, but it gives you an indication of the difference.

Very interesting read. Seems the lean is toward the BP ULTIMATE. I have never tried it 1 because there isnt 1 around me for kilometres and 2 i use the 4cent a litre off at shell. Just for peace of mind i might try the BP stuff and see if i find a difference.

When we first picked up my car we filled it with Shell V-power and drove it back up to Brissy. We got 744.1km out of the tank then filled up. Still had another 6L in it to go. :

I use them all, that way I get the best cleaner etc ..
Even E10 but I try to have mix of BP 98 and E10
Full tank BP and top up $10 or so E10..
On long trips interstate I fill alternatively..
On V8 turbo and 2.5 WRX..

On long highway hauls I put BP Ultimate in my 6cyl ED, as I use roughly 2L/100KM less than if I were to use 91 RON fuel. Round town, I just use Shell 91 RON mostly since I get 8c/L off. Not much point burning premium at red lights, the economy point goes put the door.

I use Shell V power it's the only one of the 4 brands that the GT idles smoothly on when started . with the others it rocks and rolls until it gets a good percentage of throttle. Mileage is fine and around town it's always in the 12 litres per 100kms .
Cheers

Talking about trust, I had fuel contamination with this fuel years ago and havent used it since. They however paid for repair bill which was nice but in my views it damaged thier reputation. I still do believe it is the most popular fuel out there but i now use united 100 ron which burns quicker but is also cheaper than all other. Not to forget it gives the tuner the ability to push more timing through the motor. _2:
