If you've already got the original media and certificate, then you just need to get the Windows 98 Boot Disk . These should have cdrom support.
  • make the floppy
  • run fdisk and remove all partitions
  • reboot using the floppy create a new partition (depending on your windows 98 version you may need to make the first one 2gb)
  • reboot again using the floppy and format the c drive (the partition you just made)
  • reboot again and run setup from the cd.
You may not need to reboot that much but you'll work it out, it will say when it needs to reboot

That will get rid of xp and put you back to 98.
