The ghia is the go ( biased ). May not have that mean-*** front, but with a few mods, you'll be blowing stocko XR's to the weeds...and ya get that kickass interior too.
And 6K for an el ghia?...I'd be going RIGHT over it, cause that is cheap! ...I love my EL Ghia |

my opinion is it depends on how much you plan on modding the car.
if you're gunna go all out and change most aspects of the car, then theres not much point in an XR. how ever if you're wanting to keep it close to stock in some way then atleast its got the looks/performance to keep up with some modern cars.

be prepaired to respray that car... |

yeah thats what I was thinking wayne....hence why i offered $5500.
My brother is doing a pre-apprentership in spray painting...but it would still be costy. John - if i was to get a ghia all I woudl really do is lower it and rims. But if its a futura, then im going crazy.

i think you should try and get something with a good body for a change, your last 2 ( ok the last one wasnt soooo bad) byt the white one was full of rust...etc...
try and get something thats clean and straight on the outside - wouldnt worry about spec level too much, i mean its a few looms and a couple hours work to spec a gli up... |

Damn that ghia's banged up a fair bit. Would probably spend half the cost of the car getting that all straightened up and totally repsrayed (+ bodykit while you're at it : ).
When i see cars like that i sometimes think the owner musnt care much about it and in turn they probably wouldnt bother fixing other things and getting it serviced when its suposed to. |

ive got el ghia front pews in leather n hate the lack of support.. tho maybe im just fussy. would love to get some hsv(or similar, new bf?) seats re-covered n adapted in there.. |

Also in my younger days, younger than you are now there were not any XR6s ect ect all cars came out of the show room stock, we had to work out ourselves how to gain power, just mates putting their heads together, you young people do not know how lucky you have things today.
On one trip to Mount Isa from Sydney in the 60s our fuel pump failed on a ford single spinner, our fix a four gallon drum strapped to the bonnet with a plastic hose straight into the carby, try and do that today on the modern cars, the old cars there was always a solution. |

lol how random!
Well I'm pretty sure that fuel fix would work on an efi motor too ;) As long as the fuel feed can equal what the pump was capable of, same thing applies ;) Believe it or not our cars came from the factory stock as well |

I would say a siphon hose would have near zero pressure opposed to an efi fuel pump so I cannot see it working on an efi.
