I bought a concorse condition Phase 1 late 1985 for $9,500, a couple of years latter they had already moved upwards considerably. |

Lets just say fuel hits $3/L, will the demand still be there?

I looked at a turbo porsche in feb 1985 for 111k (I couldn't afford it), in early 1987 it was worth $400k as they were prohibited import due to ULP. Then came black monday...... I am fairly sure that quite a number of muscle cars are on the never never as investments. If interest rates go nuts again then they will be everywhere really cheap. |

well it just shows old Ferrari's haven't performed as well as GTHO's over the years. as for the current prices I'd be surprised if the balloon doesn't pop soon, to me they are way, way overpriced. you are right about rates, theres a lot of people who haven't experianced how savage they can be |

I don't see the price of these cars increasing beyond the point what this guy paid for his. For the amount of money he paid you can get much much better investments.

They guy next door has an Original GTHO Phase III. He drives it about every 5 or 6 months and its locked behind a partition wall in his garage. When the garage door is open you can see a wall on the left hand side (just like in most garages) but behind the wall is his Phase III. He took me for a run in it one night. Great cruiser, and did a nice long power-skid too
I’ll have to see if he’ll let me photograph it one day.

[Quote] Highway robbery? This Ford GTHO Phase 3 was auctioned yesterday for $683,650 at Bonhams and Goodman in Sydney. The sale came as motoring bodies warned too many car buyers focused on colour and model, rather than quality. [Unquote]
I aske you, why is this highway robbery? They bid on it and could pull out at any time. obviously it is a sort after car. Some one wanted more than the next bloke derr. Oh and all you car buyers out there "STOP FOCUSING ON THE COLOR!" Its blurring your judgment and making you buy a crap car. What a load of rubbish I mean really, some bugger gets paid to write that dribble. I think the person from the "motoring body" and probably the person who wrote the crap drive a holden and there for are very jelous that they don't have such an iconic celebrety car to fetch such enormous amounts of cash or to store in there pitifull car sheds, what ever Sorry got carried away again. chow

Don't know if it is just me but I have seen it a few times now, I get sick of people on a FORD forum saying its just a falcon or a tarted up taxi. I'm not just talking about this thread or XY's as well.

Mostly said by people out there who can only afford to drive cars that wouldn't peel the skin of a rice custard, but they all seem to have cousins or mates that have cars that would blow the doors off a tarted up taxi : |

Bryan Byrt Phase III On Monday 21st of August, the well known Bryan Byrt Phase III race car arrived at our premises (Grand Tourer Restorations, GTR). This vehicle was purchased for one of our major clients with a substantial collection of vehicles. This client has been a customer for some years and during that period we have not only purchased other vehicles for him, but also have carried out various degrees of restoration to some of them and maintained others. GTR was involved in the negotiation for the purchase of this vehicle. As part of this deal GTR was contracted to inspect this car, whilst the prospective purchaser was overseas. This in fact is our second trip to the Sunshine Coast to visit the very amicable David Bowden and we are grateful to him for sparing his time to show us his collection of cars witch he has spent a life time acquiring. As part of this deal we had the pleasure of again of dealing with Terry Healy from Old Timers Garage. As a well known Queenslander he has dealt in the purchase and sale of many well known vehicles in Australia. He has in fact arranged for the purchase of many of David Bowdens collection of fine motor cars and as I understand the purchase of some of the other exrace GTs currently owned by David Bowden. We have been asked by the parties involved not to disclose the exact selling price but are permitted to say that it was just short of a million dollars. Pics didn't turn out here , but I've got a copy if someone want's them posted . Norm

Nice car and all but i don't see how it is worth that much money. I understand the history and legend behind the car but still. Same with the Ferrari 250 GTO they're worth what 10 million now?

If moneys no object and you want one, who cares what you pay for one, there arent that many around, you can argue til your blue in the face that theyre way overpriced, but the demand is out there for them and money talks _2:

As an investment, that car is only going to appreciate over the years, especially when you consider that Ford aren't making any more of them. That car will always find a buyer, and the pristine condition of this example only heightens the fact. If I had the money, I would probably umm and arr for a while and then get a benz. But if I had a ridiculous amount of money in my account, I would probably buy that too.

I reakon unrestored immaculate day 1 original examples of Phase 3's that can be driven will fetch more than over restored museum pieces, where prices end up though is anyone's guess. My bet is 1 mil will be a psycological barrier though.
