Nope but some of the people that have "owned" these cars are so biased against them in the first place it is doubtable they would have spent the $$ in the first place on them.

And contra argumen, the common opinion is that German built Fords are some of the best in the world...and South Aferican ones are shocking...

It seems to be that you are looking for an arguement, I wasn't passing judgement, merely stating a fact.

Ferrari wouldn't be the only manufacturer to have done a dodgy. Most recently Pagani was caught with photographs of them using hand cut racing slicks on the Huayra during the Top Gear hot lap. They posted that they used used Perelli P Zero Corsa's.
It's the world we live in..... |

Its still, "Ferrari, the Ferrari" And, going back to this... Quote:
So... In 1993 the F1 was released, Mclaren had not released a road car in its history, and it knocked the wind out of Ferrari...it remained the fastest production car for over 10 years. It won Lemans on its first outing, against purpose built GT1 cars...the F1 was a road legal production car modified for racing, while the CLK GTR, 911 GT1 were pure race cars, modified for street use... Still want to think that Mclaren have no history in sports cars? They built one production model and Ferrari are still hurting from it...

Yeah, they can get to.. you know where.
At least Ford used Ford motors, and Iso and Bizzarini Chevrolet. Last edited by MethodX; 08-03-2013 at 11:32 PM. |

Not mine.... If Fords where Chinese built and had the quality of my German Ford id pay for it no worries. Whats the big deal with mostly smaller manufacturers using motors from well known manufacturers. -Original manufacturer makes more money. -We get to see smaller manufacturers like Noble for instance make some fantastic cars and get a start, without that we may not see them at all.

Cars like the McLaren F1 will forever be a thorn in the side of Ferrari but in a way i suppose this is what makes them strive to deliver something greater than their competitors, like LaFerrari (see, i managed to bring the argument back on topic :P) As for the engine not being a McLaren that is just bs, if there is such a great engine ready and waiting why the hell would you not use it? Just the same as many many epic cars have used engines from other brands, most notable being Pagani and AMG, maybe Noble with the Volvo engines and the many great sports cars using Ford 4,6 and 8 cylinder engines in various brands! Doing this does not discredit a car at all IMO. |

The F1 had a bespoke V12 developed by BMW.
I don't think I've ever heard someone give a dig to a mac F1 that was credible. And I still haven't.... The F40 used a number of parts from the Fiat line up but who cares. |

Nevertheless, what Holden do is design and build the Commodore body, chassis, interior, and then outsource the V8 engine. Is it your objection that McLaren didn't outsource from a company they own or are otherwise intimately affiliated with?
I'm sorry, that's a pretty feeble criticism. |

I just love it that the love me do Pom makers have to scrape and bow to whomever they can get engines from. Even the Gerries now... shock horror. The queen rides aorund in a German car... Its funny. All Euro countries have their rivalries. |

who really cares - gm and ferrari fans are the same
both are bogans who (would like to) buy whatever crap the company puts out, under the pretence of national pride at least gm fans don't try and pretend they are upmarket compared to everyone else |

Um, I don't have a problem with manufacturers outsourcing parts and engines. The Phase 3 was a legendary machine.
BMW offered McLaren Automotive the purpose-built F1 powerplant after taking interest in the project. McLaren Automotive did not 'scrape and bow' to anyone. |
