To be honest, I don't mind it. If i had the skills and coin to finish it, I would.

+1 for thinking outside the box mate well done and you had the kahunnahs to go thru with it lol . I like the concept of a more modern coupe as ford haven't made one since well 1976 altho personally it needs a fair bit of modding like the door skins and rear quarter panels incorporated in the shell of the coupe and perhaps the quarter windows rounded to take out the sharpness of the shell
The interior/bay work is a great mod makes fitting newer interior and engine better and nicer fit not to mention cleans and modernises the whole look. Don't beat yourself up about the opinions of others, its your car and ideas and well someone else wouldve had the same idea eventually if not already With the sharper lines and rounder shapes I personally think the au may have looked a lil better but what do I know haha. Hats off to you mate good luck hope someone appreciates the work you've done and buys it, loving it and finishing such a unique idea |

I quite like the look of it and he has done a great job of blending the panels, a LOT of work left to do, but painted black with some nice rims and gold Cobra stripes would make this a stand out.

Getting the old & new to blend & look right would be very difficult, I saw a couple of pics on the interwebs that use a monaro as a base that look more convincing, Though sill not my cup of tea. I own both a Monaro & 2 XB coupes but would never consider merging the too styles, I like them both but for different reasons.

I like the way the BA front accentuates the long bonnet, looks very Euro imo! I like it, forget the new Camaro i want one of these, it looks just as cohesive even for a home job lol!
cheers,Maka

I think it's got enormous potential...in the right hands it could end up being one of those customs people are talking about in ten years time.
Would people rather a rusted out shell went to the wreckers or crusher? We were driving down the highway one day and came up behind a flatbed tilt tray and on the back, tied down carefully, was a Falcon coupe. It had no windows, was rust brown, and from our vantage point you could see daylight through the floors, taillight panel, and boot floor and quarters. It had no front panels on it, but when we overtook oddly enough the front "framework" where the guards and everything bolts to was painted in fresh grey primer, even though the doors were similarly rusted out along the bottom. Weird. Obviously it wasn't going to the dump...it looked like someone was making an attempt to save it, but the condition it was in, well, I've actually seen better ones in wrecking yards over the years. I really want to see that coupe finished... |

I think it would have looked pretty tough if he had retained the XA\XB coupe *** end with the BF front. I'm guessing it was rusted out at the back like most coupes and would have been too expensive to replace the coupe cheetmetal.

Maybe if the profile of the front and rear bars were matched to the door profile it would start to match better. Atm you have a coke bottle with square corners.

It can never flow
Look at the shape of the top of the door then have a look at the guard The XB guards has a rounder edge so the shape flows from the door on to the top of the guard and onto the scuttle panel The BA guard is thin with a sharp edge I used to own a Monaro and I hate that BA front Are ford lovers that desperate to use the monaro to have another two door |

That's looking at the photoshop, Neptune blue.
The project car still has the original guards. Just the front part modded. I say, good on him, and I hope to see the finished car. |

I think ,if finished to a high standard, it would be awesome...and I usually hate people stuffing around with classics.

I'd say the builder has vision, but since he's copped so much flack he want's out. What a shame. Screw the world mate, if you build it they will come, then they'll all want one.
He should ignore everyone & continue what he started. He obviously has the necessary skills to see it through. Based on the XB photoshop pic I reckon one of these would look shirt hot! Once it's built, every bogun hater would want it, yesiree. I totally agree with the MadMax Interceptor comparison. If you built one & rolled up at the local with it on Friday night you'd be glassed, but stick it in Street machine mag' & the ooh's & aah's would be deafening. That coupe should not have been shown off 'till it was finished. Do we all remember the public opinion on the AU when it first came out, spew bag shares sky rocketed! Now though, after some Tickford & XR versions they are much sought after vehicles. All the haters quietly slipped away ha'! In the famous words of Lady Sovereign, love me or hate me, it's still an obsession! |

I think we should just wait and see... I don't know of any cars that looked good with multi coloured panels halfway into a build..

its his car so he can do as he pleases. at least he has saved it instead of being one of those "its not for sale im going to restore it one day scenarios". reminds me of the guy that stuck a 6 cyl into an xwgt and the guy that had people choking when he converted a supposed ph3 into a convertible. imo its a terrible result but each to their own....

Personal opinions on the looks aside, used car prices would seem to indicate the average AU is not sought after in any way!

After all the work put into it, it would be a shame if it didn't get finished. Not my cup of tea though.
