I'm really disappointed in the economy of my 2005 Zetec, I am struggling to get under 10-12l/100km in reasonable free-flowing traffic, but short trips.
On the same route I can regularly get 8-9l/100km in my 2005 Golf GTI, which I find quite odd. Admittedly the GTI goes have a 6-speed DSG but its also a turbo, and I do not spare the whip... |

815km out of 44.7L, average speed 59km/h.
Watch out with your Focus, some here have had issues causing high fuel consumption caused by a faulty thermostat. |

That said the GTI does have direct injection and a 6speed box, and its torquey so maybe the Zetec just needs more of a boot to boogie. |

I have a 2011 titanium turbo diesel. I mostly drive stop start around town and I get 5.9/100km. I did have a Tunit chip in my car and I was getting 4.9/100 which was amazing but it had to come out cause my car didn't agree with it.

Talking about Canberra. It varies a lot. Bit I'd say average is somewhere between 60-80. Going to Sydney, I get 5.6 on the highway

A car driven around the city / suburbs will have an average of around 30-45km/h. Does the LW Focus have the option of instantaneous consumption readout? Only thing I really wish my LV had.

LW Diesel Sport Auto.
6.8L/100 average speed of 32km/h. That's virtually bumper to bumper in the morning and evening. When it comes to traffic and congestion, nobody does it better than Sydney. That's with a tune. Before a tune it was 7.1L/100km. I'm yet to get out on the freeway but I'm sure it will be pretty darn impressive. |

My average fuel consumption over 3000km is 6.9L/100km. I do drive it nice and easy, and always set the speed limiter to the posted limit. I tend to back off to encourage a gear change (dual clutch auto), before depressing the accelerator a little further, thus using the torque of the engine more effectively. Similar driving my previous BF would use around 14L/100km, I believe mainly due to the time spent driving with the motor still warming up. Very happy with everything on the LW Trend so far!

I have a TDCi Powershift LVII, I just had the 30K service and for some reason my fuel economy suddenly got better by 80Kms per tank. I do 90% highway @ 5.6l/100Km the distance to empty added to distance traveled works out mostly at 950Km's. Before the service was around 880 and 5.8l/100Km

Finished a trip down the Great Ocean Rd from Melbourne to Warrnambool and back via colac. 735km, 47.95L, 6.5L/100km economy. Ford Focus Sport LW
My fuel use around town is much higher. Average pretty close to 9-10L/100km with approx 90% city driving. Does this seem a bit high? |

Ok, I think I have a record.... beat the factory rating!
Model: 2010 Focus TDCI Generation: LV Type: 2.0 PowerShift Driving style: 20% City : 80% Freeway, 853km. Fuel Consumption: 4.7L/100km (was at 4.4L till we hit traffic!) Total KM's on the clock: 54k km AVG speed:76km/h Conditions: 2 occupants, meduim load, empty roof racks, space saver as well as full size spare, air-con on the whole time. DTE - 122km. Was stunned! Did the drive from Sydney to Coolangatta and the consumption leveled out at 4.4L per 100, with an average speed of 84km/h. Hit Taree and from there to Kempsey it was 5-10km/h bumper to bumper which reduced the average speed to 70 and our consumption went from 4.4-4.9 :(. Kempsey to Coolangatta leveled the figures to what we have above. So, I was hoping that the trip back would be a little more smoother, just to compare with going there: Driving style: 20% City : 80% Freeway, 854km. Fuel Consumption: 4.6L/100km Total KM's on the clock: 55k km AVG speed:79km/h Conditions: 2 occupants, meduim load, empty roof racks, space saver as well as full size spare, air-con on the whole time. This time we took a detour to drop into Taree itself for lunch. At that point it was already showing 4.6 and after that my wife took over and drove the rest of the way in drive (I tend to use the gears to better adjust driving to the conditions).. When we got home the DTE read 152km. Makes for just over 1000km to a tank in those conditions. Factory figures for the Diesel Focus is 4.8L per 100 - obtained on rollers with no wind resistance from what I hear? Very impressed ;)

Following on from my previous post I decided to go out and do a little driving. Still had a DTE of 14X km when I filled her up:
Don't think the boffins ever expected the DTE to enter into 4 digit territory!!! After about half an hr I thought the consumption computer was buggered... km kept going up, DTE was stuck at 999km... till I drove around and after 37km it ticked down to 998. Focus ECOnetic anyone lol
