By far the worst motorcycle accident I heard of anyone surviving....
I'm sure there will some more motorcycle injuries no doubt topping the list

Myself...

Riding my Yamaha TT350 home from work (in 1992 as an apprentice mechanic)
stopped half way home to pick up a mate to help out with some work needed on the XD back then

travelling through town just before we got back to my place around 60kph
an XF ute pulled out in front of us and then stopped

I down shifted and swerved...

but my right knee still hit the left rear tail lamp of the ute

both of us catapulted from the Motorcycle to the side of the road

RESULT:
Several broken bones in my Right foot
Extensive nerve damage in Right foot (took ten years to gain any sensation)
Fractured Fibula and Tibia just below the Knee
Broken Posterior Cruiciate Ligament (never re-attached)
Femur Smashed into my Pelvis (splintering it) and dislocated

Fortunately my Helmet / Riding Gear was of good Quality and did its Job
protecting my Head (allthough some would dispute this : ) / Torso.

Cost:Free ride to the hospital with complimentary bottle of NOS
(yes I sucked the whole bottle in),
1 night @ Extreme pain and no sleep = "Hell on Earth"
(accident happend around 5pm thrusday night and wasn't deemed critical),
+ 4 weeks in traction.

Mates injuries:
3 stitches in his right knee
(lucky boy)
Cost:out of hospital in a few hours

Damage to the Bike:
Bent the handle bars $30
Tore the handgrip on one side $12
Cost: $42

I have another mate who has had several accidents including hitting a Kangaroo @ 110kph half way
from Perth to Darwin... breaking his leg... dropping the bike (XJR 1200)
getting back on the bike and riding to the nearest Hospital

Which one do you want to know. The anglegrinder that nearly sliced the index finger off or the garden fork through the foot?

Cheers, Will

no concussion though.. so that was alright.

This bought back a memory from a childhood bike accident I had. Well not really childhood. I think I was around 13 or 14.

I had spent about an hour digging a hole and using the dirt to make a jump to launch me and my pushy over the hole.

The hole was about 4 feet long and about a foot deep. It made a decent jump with all the dirt. Nothing huge but just another little addition to my home built BMX track.

Once finished I decided to test it out.

I came flogging along, legs pumping a hundred miles an hour. I launched off the jump and got plenty of air.

All was looking good until around midway through the jump I witnessed my front wheel separate from the bike.

The bike dug in to the dirt on landing and threw me face first in to the ground. I remember sliding along on my face (in the soft dirt) and coming to rest and thinking "that wasn't too bad" when a split second later the bike (having bounced up in to the air), came crashing down on my skull.
I'm not exactly sure what contacted my skull but it was either the rear axle or a pedal as it was pretty sharp and really concentrated the impact in one area.

The end result was a lot of blood and a night under observation in hospital with concussion. Only one stitch though.

I'm not sure why the doctor needed to inject the anaesthetic into my head in 4 separate places around the wound when it probably would have been quicker and less painful to just put the one stitch in and be done with it.

I think my mother asked him to do that to teach me a lesson!!
