Honestly, the most comfortable ride i've ever had is in the buckets of dads XT. It's like cruising in a lounge chair. And air conditioning isn't needed when the window is down ;)

PS. There's power windows in almost 40 year old cars. Not even the BA had standard electric windows in the back.

To me, if I had the money, i'd probably drive a newer car for a daily so i wouldn't have to be scared about it being stolen/damaged.. But seeing I can only afford one, old school it is. Back in the day, the cars were actually being pushed to limits in terms of design, and now (especially aussie cars) are so far behind it's shocking.

But.. I vote hotrod.

Have you ever lived outside of lakes entrance?

Ive actually lived down that way for a year or so,and let me tell you its not a good example of the cross section of this country.

Yes I can appreciate a new car,I drove a very nice CLK340 convertible just today, and I do own a 2006 model car myself,as well as a few others, and for shear road prescence there arent that many to match these old muscle cars, short of an exotic european supercar...
Yes i've lived out of Lakes Entrance, i've spent half my life in Melbourne and am returning in the end of the year. I'm not just talking about what happens in Lakes Entrance, i'm talking about when we go to Melbourne and wherever else too.

I'm wondering why it's so hard for you all to accept that a new car can get big reactions out of people? THAT is what I find ignorant.

"old school" V "new school":

Its not cut and dry, there is no black or white, there never will be.
Most intelligent people understand the differences....
Most intelligent people can respect the strengths and weaknesses of both...
Most intelligent people can respect and admire both for what they are.....
Most intelligent people know you cant compare them or choose between them without considering the points above...

Wake up to yourself, who is ignorant?
The people who own both a new and an old car?
or the fresh off the tit, pimply faced kid who knows it all?

Does'nt it say something to you that the guy's here who prefer the classics actually also own a newer car or two,yet still prefer the muscle car?
People who could own any car they wanted, yet still want the old crappy muscle car? why would they?
Because of the reaction they get on the road, and the satisfaction that comes from owning one..

Now run off and ask daddy if you can sit in his car and play driver

...WTF? I'm just saying you old school enthusiasts need to give new cars more credit. I'm certainly not saying anything bad about old cars nor putting them down at all.

I'm not claiming to have one or anything, this is just my experience.

Oh and I do have my own car and I think it's awesome even if it doesn't get much of a reaction.

I'll ignore your cheap shots and try to actually show some maturity, you would benefit from doing likewise.

Boring :

from a person who owns both old and new cars 1x xd falcon, 1x td cortina, 1x xr8 Ute, if by any reason i had to sell any of those cars the first to go would be the xr8, my 27yo xd leaves the xr in it wake in every way but fuel economy, although a unfair comparison as i have invested allot of money into the xd from the way it would have left the factory over what i have spent on the xr, it being stock as a rock, BUT the xr was a 50,000 dollar car now comparing that with the money i spent to bring my xd up to the standard i like, they are on equal terms as far as money spent goes, and for the money i do prefer the xd.. :

but thats just my point of view, i really think one cant compare the 2 era's unless they have actually owned cars from both era's

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.......no wrong or right........

But when you say an engine is gay..........WTF
When you say something sounds gay.......WTF

When you say you prefer your fuel guzzling REAL V8..........WTF

How does that state anything positive, comprehensive or constructive..........

And whilst you're thinking about how to respond in your foul mouthed manner.........why don't you go and wash your mouth out...............

We could all do with a break from that sort of simple minded language..........

Nothing beats giveing a wave to a fellow old school driver on a sunny afternoon..
I appreciate it everytime i see them on the road, weather its a torana, falcon, valiant
its the same feeling i get when i see them driveing..

I cant say the same for so called new school cars, mabye in 30 years time i can tell my grandkids that they were made from recycled electrolux vacume cleaners.

As much as i lik the newer age engines, id have to say old school in terms of simplicity, especially when you breakdown in the middle of nowhere. Atleast back in the day the faults were easily diagnosed and depending what spares you have in the boot, easily fixed..(come on im sure most of had nearly eveything) Nowdays if you breakdown on the side of the road in hicksville its a lengthy delay if they dont have the parts, or the diagnostic tools to even find whats wrong ............no offence

Oops, need to be more specific here, my 3 on the tree is FMX auto, not manual.
I think the old 351 would eat the 3 speed manual for brekky torque-wise not that they were ever available like that to my knowledge.

But thanks for backing my thoughts on XD reaching classic status.
