Usually put about 30 - 40 in at a time. Depends how the funds are. With the new car on the way ill prob just fill it up to the brim. The ef just gets what it needs for a week which is like $40.

My EA gets the same treatment. Normally $20 a week to work and back. That includes picking up workmates also.

I fill it when the DTE gets to about 50ks.

Only happens every 2 1/2 weeks or so. I rarely even look at the price.

I fill it up once a fortnight or whenever it gets to about 1/4 full always with Premium. Not much I can do about petrol prices, the car needs fuel or I don't work.

I read somewhere that you should never fill over the first click. Your just wasting fuel after that.

I fill up, whenever it's the cheapest on that week, even if it's only for 1/4 of a tank.

Cheers

Fill it all the way to the top, twice a week, some times more.

The bowsers at numerous Shell servo's I've been to click continuously and you can only hold the pump at half way to stop it clicking. I thought I had filled the car once before not taking notice of the readout on the bowser and it didn't even go to 2/3. Only ever seems to happen at Shell.

Since I don't drive all that much as I prefer to walk, 80-100 everytime. Fill it up.

The fact remains that nothing stays the same price and petrol prices are governed by several factors that I don't care to understand. Understanding it will make no difference.

I budget accordingly. Means sacrifices. However, due to not filling up ever week, keeps costs down.

Question

for TEaaron

Hmmm, where to start with answering this idiotic reply of yours.
-> idiotic? i was trying to let help ya, cos your 'cheap' way of getting fuel will cost you more in the long run

1: My car does not run on LPG, an extra 44kg is 44kg too much.
-> have you thought of running you car on straight gas? if your on the good stuff you'll get better power and its cheaper. 44kg too much ay? might as well strip the sound deadening, back seat, air con, roof lining, spare wheel, jack etc. out then... . i can deal with 40 kg, especially if the car only weighs 1300 odd kg anyway

2: I don't have a alpine stereo system if you actually to read down at my signature.
-> does the brand of stereo you have affect the weight?

3: if you botherd to look across to your left under my avatar you would see I live in Melbourne, dunno if you heard of it, but it aint a little town!
-> yeah i know it, been there, hated it!

4: 250 crossflows do not run an electric fuel pump
-> i know they don't! but that was for the sake of people who do have electric fuel pumps, i bet most people on this forum own one car with an electric fuel pump

5:Again if you actually botherd to look down at your moniter at my signature you would realize that the Cortina is NOT my daily driver.
-> fair enough, when i was 18 i barely had the money for one car let alone a project car

So think before you go bashing the keyboard typing up some negitive rubbish
-> i'm trying to give ya some positive advice, there was nothing forcing you to take it....
your doing nothing for the reputation of p platers btw!
if i knew ya i'd give u a beating for being such a toolkit about the whole thing
but hey if your happy in your ways, whatever!
i know how much of a pain in the *** it is to deal with a rusted fuel tank, and i don't wish that on anyone.

I fill it up every Tuesday when fuel seems to be a bit cheaper, but regardless of when I do, I fill it right up. Not much we can do about it unfortunately, when you need fuel you need it.

My daily cars are not much of a hassle and get filled full as needed, although both the Subie and Mini (daily driven by wife) use min 95. They are fuel card via salary sacrifice so no real immediate hip pocket pain. Can't use dockets with Caltex Starcard either.

The 'lane can hurt though. Normally try for about $30-$40 when the first beeps start (DTE 80km), but that only gets it back up to about 1/2. Not daily driven though. A big trip though is filled to the brim of Sydney fuel so I can get back as close as possible for the refilll.

With fuel now at US$111 per barrel and an almost even exchange rate we will really cop it when the exch rate falls again.

I never said it was the "cheap" way of doing it.

I'm not going to run gas because I've already started on my custom manifold and microtech injection system and straight gas will not give more power than that.

If my fuel tank rusts so what? I'll just fabricate one out of stainless steel.

The cortina is not my daily, I don't care the slightest bit about practicality or cost effectivness. That's why I have a daily! :

I chose the $20-45 option as that's how much it costs to fill my AU with LPG.

In fact I've never paid above $40 but methinks that will soon change. Aaaaah bring back the days when it was $26 to fill up each week.

I just fill when I need it, having the fuel card helps a lot!
I don't like to run it right out, as you never know when a quick delivery to a farmer could be on. So I always keep at least 1/4 tank.

Cheers

i fill up 80-100bucks a week now.

thats every 5-7 days or so. someweeks i drive a lot, others hardly at all. its really inconsistent.

i also thought i'd be driving less when my gf dumped me months ago, cause she didnt have her licence so i'd forever be picking her up and dropping her home etc lol

BUT, im driving more than ever now. and my cars fuel economy varies week to week lol. sucks!

ive just landed a job at st peters so i think public transport is going to become an option soon.

You do realise that spending that extra $5 to get an extra 4c is costing you.

But if you buy ice break and don't care abouts costs, then that's cool too

I don't care what the price is I fillup with PULP (Vortex 96) everyweek. What's the point in complaining you want petrol you pay for it when you need it.

I usually fill up 15-30 litres at a time in mine.

I have a 90litre tank in the mercedes and have only once filled it up, but thats due to my hate of standing at the bowser so long more then anything. Ever since working at a servo i can barely stand the smell.

Theres nothing we can do about the petrol prices, so if i need fuel i just go to the BP and fill it up with Ultimate doesnt matter what it cost.
It always cracks me up when you see all the people that drive to the other side of town/city to line up like KFC on a friday night just to save a couple of cents a litre, even though they just spent more driving all over the place & sitting there in the line up.
