no i pulled the dizzy out after several attempts to start it again, and it has been confirmed as in the correct position and timing by another member (spope) so this is really, really begining to pi$$ me off, and the wife is putting pressure on to wreck the car, catch public transport.

Before doing that, just wait on the other ECU's you're gonna test on it and see what happens...

sounds like its flooded, start the car with your foot on WOT and keep it there, just keep cranking, it should eventually start and no doubt alot of black smoke will pour out. seems like everything is working so its all i can suggest.

try what john_xr6 said it is probably flooded, other than that youve got be stumped, if the car has been sitting for ages and you start it with throttle at 100% it may go into limp mode so you may have to restart it,

good luck

Seing the car ran for 30sec then died, it sounds like an electrical fault. How are you testing for spark??

There is no way that you would blow all 6 rings in 30sec

spark plug in lead, then jumper cable to the engine, crank it and watch the sparks fly, did it for eash lead, all sparked.

dellboy try this,

take out the plug on cyl 1 and manually find TDC and see if it lines up with your harmonic ballancer because you are using a different ballancer and your old timing case they may be different,

the only thing i can think of atm because you have good spark good fuel, and good air if starting at WOT therefore there is only oher thing to check it timing

I lined the balancers up to start with using the key way, both of them facing the same direction then added a mark to the new one in the correct spot as I knew they are different.

BBBIIIGGG Vacuum Leak
Is your ICS refitted correctly after R&R for dissy
Brake booster hose
MAP senser hose
Broken vac tree at rear of intake plenem
Batt Earth lead at eng Block loose
Try loosening dissy and rotate it back & forth while cranking
One man out--Try removing start relay and jump the two large terminals in the plug it will crank(ign on)
Good luck

it cant be the start relay because it TURNS OVER thats wat that relay does. id say its totally out of timing, or the balancer has shifted somhow. it could be compression but highy doubt it. id try pi$$in round with the balancer and see how u go.

$500 it's got nothing to do with the ignition timing. He's checked it a million times, checking again won't change anything.

Did you put any shims or do something different with the valve gear? I'm thinking maybe it took 30sec to pump up the lifters, and now they are holding the valves open.

Check for vacuum leaks!
And if you're plugs are really wet, could it possibly be too rich and flooding the crap outta them?
Change back to the old fuel pressure reg, you never know...

Ok well after further checking, double checking, changing parts, trying weird ideas like plugging everythingn 180 out, and all no good, with the timing and plugs set correctly and foot flat to the floor it shot flames out the throttle body, nice blue flame very impressive you would say.

So all in all, I have decided to pronounce it dead due to mechanical failure, exactley where or why, I wont know till I strip it apart, so glad it happend at home and down the freeway.

Thanks again to all those who offered help, the EA will live on, just be getting a new heart very soon I hope.

that sounds weird, did you try using aero-start to see if it'd fire?
that stuff makes anything start (well almost).

Uhhh, flames out the TB means one of two things, timing is out or the inlet valves aren't closing.

how could it just be dead all of a sudden, this doesn't make any sence, it was running fine before you did serpentine conversion right ? :( I was hoping to see a positive end to this thread.

I have decided timing is just moving about and not staying as expected, i cant think of any other reason for it not starting, so time for a new engine, after 270,000k i think maybe more (possible cluster change) it has done pretty good.

Does the rotor button spin when the engine is turned over? Maybe the aux shaft has had its gear sheared off.

Ok then compression, 2 turns of the motor produced these results:

1 - 90psi
2 - 90psi
3 - 30psi (checked 3 times)
4 - 90psi
5 - 90psi
6 - 90psi
