They cracked the ****s with Clive when he tried to blackmail them with his Border challenge. West Australians are at their best when united against a common enemy. Palmoil will never again do business in this state, and most of his former partners will say "good riddance."

Did anyone hear him on Radio national this morning?
Ducking and diving, exclaiming "Thats bull ****" whenever he was challenged. In the end he spat it and hung up. Almost fell off my tractor laughing

While I think Clive Palmer is a POS of the highest order, I do not agree with putting in emergency legislation to block a potential claim. It is a dangerous precedent no matter who it is against.
This guy is a **** no doubt and left the taxpayer to pickup the tab on employees entitlements and now doing this ****. How anyone could vote for his party is beyond me. |

Clive is no different...just he doesn't make any pretenses about it. Voters are no different...they vote for whoever gives them more cash in their pockets ...look at the two reasons Labour lost the last election.....negative gearing and franking credits...how about that...nothing to do with global warming when the bank account is at risk. I am sure that when Clive was handing out new Mercs and holidays for his workers they all voted for his party... |

West Australians (and I'm one) forget the consequences of popularity. Have the sandgropers forgotten Kevin '07 "I'm here to help"? That narcissist was very popular wasn't he, and how'd he end up for the country?
McGowan think he can run the state like Carrie Lam in Hong Kong, changing or ignoring the rule of law as he sees fit. I'm no fan of CP however I wish him all the best with his legal challenges. This WA government is operating in a vacuum of accountability and needs to be reigned in.

Until there's the very real threat of a $30B hit to the state government coffers because of their own actions then they start acting like a dictatorship which changes legislation on a whim to prevent it being held accountable for its own actions Clive Palmer's not the only bastard here, your own government decides to start taking the law into its own hands changing legislation on a whim to protect itself from being held accountable for its own actions. |

Only times I bothered going to WA is to bring back bags of cash from the Pilbara.
Why anyone could stand living there (or in Perth) beggars belief. Like any other mining town...its the pits. |

1) To be fair, this is a Labor government passing legislation to cover the actions of the former Liberal government.
2) Governments make decisions, its their job. If you don't like them, then don't vote for them at the next election, that's how democracy works. Billionaires shouldn't be allowed to claim billions more in compo, just cos they don't like a government decision. 3) Bad enough if the pollies had to pay up, but they don't. Why the hell should my taxdollars fo to Palmoil? 4) End of the day, he made a big mistake taking on our borders, and now he is paying the price.

2) Governments shouldn't make 'decisions' to tweak legislation to avoid accountability for their own actions to prevent them being accountable for it's own actions, today it's trying to stiff that shyster Clive Palmer, tomorrow it's acting like Silvio Berlusconi 3) If the courts proved the government stiffed Clive then they should be accountable for their actions, the government should never consider itself 'above the law' so YOU will pay for their actions, I suggest you redirect your anger towards the people who allowed this to happen - your own government. 4) I look forward to seeing the results of the court case https://thewest.com.au/business/fina...d-ng-ya-378509 Quote:
Here's a good reminder to all to DO YOUR ****ING JOB PROPERLY. The previous state government couldn't be ****ed abiding by its own guidelines and the current government has passed legislation to protect itself from adverse action - wow what a great start you guys are off to, next you'll have concentration camps. Last time I checked we live in a democratic nation that values rule of law - if you want to live in some dictatorship where the government does what the government wants then go live in Russia or China. I want to live in a country where w@nkers like him get the aass-whooping they deserve. And in any event, what could be more democratic? The people of Western Australia have spoken. We want to tie Clive Palmer to an ant-hill and cover him in chocolate sprinkles. Our democratically elected government is doing its best to oblige. And if you don't like the way we do things, then stay out.

One things for certain, the matter regarding the border closures will now definitely head to the High Court.
Justice Rangiah said “the court's findings were only concerned with "the health risks posed by COVID-19 to the Western Australian community" and the court could not "take into account any economic, social or other consequences of COVID-19 or the border restrictions." This is not a ruling on the Constitutionality of the border closure. Watch this space.

Its the job of the government to protect our civil liberties, not infringe them. McGowan is a hypocrite, allowing his big donor buddies Andrew Forrest and Kerry Stokes come and go as they please.
