I reckon the Mustangs look fantastic, so for me it wins over the RS.
I don't have and don't want kids, so couldn't give a rats about a back seat. The reality is, i'm not going to race it, so being a fraction of a second slower than something else doesn't really matter. Definitely want to take one for a test drive, but would be great to compare the EB with the GT when doing so. Not paying over 1k for rego is a big plus for the EB! |

Maybe we can shoe-horn 2 of the 4 potters in, for a 4.6L V8.

I never ran it down the drags, but I'd say it'd do somewhere between 13.1 - 13.3. One of the motoring mags got a GTE doing 13.4, but some people never want to believe a 5.4 is any quicker than 14s. Definitely not slouches in 315 form, went harder than my mates 317 E3 Clubbie.

Ecoboost falcon versus ecoboost mustang would make an interesting comparison. Throw a focus rs in there for a laugh

Actually...
they made up some of the most successful models...and if break it down into the top ten and...you'll find that only one model from the last 2 V8/V6 only (4th and 5th gen) series makes the top ten... No wonder they are wanting to offer more, other wise, you could probably kiss all mustangs goodbye. and the 1974 model with a choice of only a 4 or a 6 is the 4th best selling model of all time...even outselling the brutish 69-70 mustangs...

Hi SprintFg
I'm just wondering what fuel might have been in the Mustang 4 you drove. If it had 93 to 95 E10 then I'd expect that to hurt it's performance. The ethanol is effective at raising the "Research Octane Number" of fuel (ie. RON), but it's not so good at raising the important Motor Octane Number of fuel (ie. MON). From what I've been told by experts it's the Motor Octane that is the most important number to take notice of (the MON Octane rating test is apparently tougher than the RON test). So the E10 blend fuel's anti knock qualities shouldn't be as good as Premium 95 and of course 98 would be better (I think 98 might be the recommended fuel). Or perhaps someone might have been fuelled the car with 91. Just a thought, because even the 4 cylinder Turbo Falcon performs very well, as has been mentioned. I recall a 6.4 or 6.5 time to 100 in a Wheels test, admittedly with light driver and cool weather, but it was the 2 litre engine. Last edited by 2242100; 11-08-2016 at 09:33 PM. |

What's with all the 4 pot pony owners bashing anyone who dares criticize the EB Stang.
I've driven them a couple of times and the OP has nailed it. I tried all the fancy mode buttons including the mystical Track mode but it doesn't help. The harder you try and drive it the worse it feels. It lacks character and feels dull. It's needs a bit of fizz injected into it. I'm sure with a good tune and a nice exhaust it would perk up a bit. I've driven just about every fast Ford from the last 15 years and this was probably the most disappointing. I'd rather drive an ST Fiesta or an XR6. Don't get me wrong. The EB Stang isn't slow. It goes ok, particularly when driven at normal traffic speeds. But it doesn't feel special in any way. Spec sheets and quarter mile slips only tell part of the story with any car. The rest is in the drive. The 5.0 looks the same but sounds and feels like a totally different car. It has some teeth behind the wolfs clothing. So I don't like the EB Mustang either. Are you going to tell me I'm wrong or my opinion is invalid somehow? Be careful if you do as I also have opinions on some of the owners of EB Mustangs. |

According to Edmund's, the 1974 base engine’s 88 hp (66 kW; 89 PS) was "truly pathetic" and the optional V6’s 105 hp (78 kW; 106 PS) was "underwhelming." [/QUOTE] Quote:
The top selling car of all time is probably the Corolla, and the top selling car this year will probably be some Chinese POS. It's like arguing that a Fiat is better than a Lambo because they sell more. Quote:
There's no doubt that today all the major makers want to do is sell high-volume, mass-market, putz. If selling 4 cylinder Mustangs to Hairdressers keeps the iconic brand alive, that's great, but that only emphasises the disparity. |

FGX XR8 is very cool car. Great choice.
There allot of people who bought Mustangs without driving them. If it was me I'd had to drive one first. |

The common thing here is if you drive a 4 cylinder you're a girl, and you should be doing burnouts down the road in a V8 and racing everyone to the next lights to prove something to everyone. Not entirely sure what it's meant to prove. Are people that insecure that they need to validate their manhood by revving a loud engine? |

I still don't see the Mustangs being worth what they are selling them for especially a base model gt at 75k
