Hulk you have outdone yourself mate Great thread !
I helped build a ZJ ?? Back in the mid 80's it was owned by my school mate Trevor Mckay... If anyone has their old Street Machine books it's from mid 1987. Blue over Silver , Drop tank, Centrelines, Mini-Tubbed,Roll cage,Sun roof and of course a Tunnel rammed Clevo No one at the time had 15x4 + 15x10 on a Fairlane let alone a drop tank and a tunnel ram, this car was a standout at the Brisbane Street Machine show in 88'.. Totally forgot about it until i saw the picture in the post above ^^^ |

I just honestly have a softspot for the long wheelbase cars old and new but it seems like many share the admiration for these cars. I actually think ford got it right with the AU series fairlane/ltd, I prefer them different to the regular models. Bring them bsck ford |

I realise I'm gonna be a minority here but I'm really not into the longer Fairlane variants (or Statesman for that matter). Just a personal taste I think. If I needed all the gadgets/luxury I'd go for the standard wheelbase Fairmont Ghia or Calais V8 models. That being said, I can easily see how people love them, especially in black V8 'gangsta' guise. The nieghbour has a 1993 NB(?) LTD in black, very low, illegal tint, sunroof, twin tailpipes, big charcoal coloured wheels and an awesome V8 note.. I love it.. wouldn't own it though.. strange
.. and great thread Hulk.. you've lifted your form lately

If one can find one these days the original T1 TL50 is nice with some under bonnet credentials.

Not for me.
The LWB models have always just looked awkward and dull to me.

Used to have a P5 when I was 18 and I loved it. My mates and I used to pile in it and cruise everywhere in style. It had really dark tinted windows and it was white with a brown vinyl roof. It was really low with deep dish jelly beans on it. It had a sticker on the back that read ' Mafia Staff Car'. I also love the FC/D models as well.

Yup I have a real soft spot for Fairlanes of all models.
I have a NL Fairlane myself and I have had it for just over 5 years. Some photos below of mine |

I've currently got a DC LTD I bought for a road trip up the coast over easter with the mates. Didn't skip a beat and did 800kms (279,000km car)
I'd like to keep it but i've decided i need the money for a Euro-trip i'm doing in June so its up for grabs! Love the space in the thing, it's so comfortable in there. I cruise past Beemers and Ferraris and all I can think is "I'll bet they're not as comfortable as me!"

Wow. that one's really nice. Also seen this Cartier for sale, definitely seen better days: http://adelaide.gumtree.com.au/c-Car...AdIdZ216154400 Mine's defected due to the gas being out of date. Unfortunately they've made it a Regency defect so they go over the whole car instead of being able to clear the defect at the police station, so there's going to be a lot more work than just the gas tank to get it back on the road :(

The only fairlanes I'm not really fond of are the ZC-ZD and ZJ-NC. The rest are definitely classy machines in their own right.
As for LTD's, the DA-DC is a no-go and the P6 is the only one that falls short, for me. I do like the P6, just not as much as any other. |

So I learn from this thread that many people think the AU was the best looking Fairlane.
But in other threads most people think the AU was the ugliest Falcon? |

Funny that. Whereas I think my AU TS50 looks all right but the best looking Fairlane's are the ZC/ZD twins..
