Don't stress out AAMI is a good insurance company, Most non AAMI recommended repairers don't like AAMI, because the way there repair system is set up.

assuming it is all over, the only reason i knew about it in the south east was this thread. there was a little rain, a bit of thunder but no hail
we must be lucky here because we don't get much hail at all. what we do get is tiny and around 5-10 years apart
hopefully any damage is minor and easily fixed

Sure no problem Donny

Only have the one car through Lumley and the three coupes are still with Shannons.

Yeah, because we all love to tender for jobs. You'll lose a job over $10 even if the customer wants to use you. They'd rather send a car on the back of a tow truck five suburbs away.
Plus, you have to get two quotes for them, only insurance company to do the same process these days. Then take it to their assessment centre, which can drag on for weeks and weeks. I bought my shop just over 12 months ago and booted all Suncorp work out the door as we have a great relationship with many insurance companies, to the point some of them call us to get them out of a bind.

I'd rather not mention my own shop, not here for self promotion, I'd rather steer people in the right direction.

My G6ET was with AAMI

After I got rear ended AAMI really let me down.

Needless to say - I learnt my lesson. Will NEVER insure with them again.

A simple $8500 repair became a $17000 repair as I made my repairer do it all over again......

I had my car repaired twice because the AAMI clowns ruined the car.

Busted my key, shrink back on bonnet, scratches on front bar, scratches on rear bar, dust particles on bonnet, rear spolier and rear bar. Seam sealer applied by a three year old on my bootlid......so glad that is over!

Luckily the big stroms always seem to bypass here and dump all the nasty stuff in Melbourne instead. Has happened at least the last 5 times where Melbourne has had big hail storms and we've had nothing bar a little rain.

We've had no rain here since early this morning.

Cars are insured with AAMI. Last March's hail storm in Melbourne's east damaged 3 cars and all were wrttten of and paid out very quick by them. If the damage is more than 75% of the value they will write the car of but I think it was 60% with the 8th March 2010 hail damage.

How does this storm compare to the March 2010 one? I missed out the 2010 one as I was interstate with the car that week.

Very, very unlikely. Both of them will need to have internal water damage for them to be written off. Most hail jobs range from about 6K to about
16K.

i don`t remember the 2010 one, but from where i live in this lot it went from nothing to hail pretty fast, first i thought it was just big drops, by the time i woke up it was big hail and ran out with blankets it had already been going a couple minutes , not game to have close look just yet.

That's not good at all. Hope it gets repaired quickly.

I have been hearing horror stories of people who's roofs collapsed.

At least no one has been hurt!

Thats the main thing mate; the car is repairable/replaceable, lives aren't.

Insurance has photos; if the car is to be repaired, the bonnet and boot will be replaced, but the roof could tip the barstard over to write off, simply because of where the two big dents are. They will call back to advise of when to get it to assessment centre.

charles that is no good. you should try paintless dent repair. my sisters car go hit and these guys literally massaged all the dents out. can not tell theres been any damage.... one time i saw a black toyota rav with half the car hail damaged and the other half completely flawless. it had advertisement for pdr on it to showcase their skills...very impressed with a black car. painting it is a risk because you see many cars today with the clearcoat coming off. pdr is the way to go.

Most of the dents are too big for PDR, only a few would massage out.

At the very least, they will fit a new roof panel, bonnet and boot (this time I will tell them to not refit the spoiler). At the other end of the spectrum, it could be written off. I won't know for certain until I see the assessor.
