This looks like a Russian Mafia scam to me.
Anyone who takes out a policy with them needs their head examined.

it didnt acknowledge that 1991 Fairlanes have a V8, had to enter 1992.....
i went through the quote listing EVERYTHING ive done to my car expecting it to spit it at the end for too much mods..........instead it gave a quote for $290p/a full comp.......
that said, after reading some of the fine print, especially some of the bits touched on from others in this thread, they wont be getting my business

Oh.. code 50 for everyones information that got declined is that you chose commercial use coverage.

When I did mine I didn't choose commercial use.

Draging up an old thread (but I don't see the point in starting a new one).

Has anyone dealt with these guys since? I just stumbled across them (I think I saw an add on carsales.com.au)

$300 for mine, down from $1000 with RACQ.

That has to be to good to be true.

awesome, apparently my xr6 sedan has 2 doors.

edit. found the right option. price was 30% more than currently paying.
Interested to know of anyone that has taken up a cheap policy and had to claim.

It's probably great if you like bragging about how little you pay for insurance, just hope you don't have to submit a claim.

Based on some investigation by others, no choice of repairer which probably means the repairs aren't guaranteed and no theft or breakage coverage unless you have a tracking device (don't you pay a yearly fee for those...?)

Factor in those and it'll cost you a hell of a lot more for an oopsy when it comes to actually using the insurance.

I actually got a call back from them this morning just to see if I was happy with my quote and give me their contact details should I want to call to ask anything.

I must admit, they're pleasant to talk to on the phone and didn't pressure me in to anything, plus they're cheap and easy. But yeah, I'd be to nervous that if I went to claim on anything, I'd get screwed. :(

Hi All

i have just found this interesting post on us. Im a director at eGroup and wanted to assist with some of the questions you may have.

on the 1sy July 2008 we changed underwriters to Lloyds, who are fully APRA regulated, so you have full protection in the event of a claim, which are handled in Australia.
our prices are so competitive because the customer does all the work for us - buy, change and renew all online. You can call us, aswell if preferred.

anyway, if anyone was thinking of looking at eCar or eBike ill leave you my number and you can certainly call me if you are at all unsure, and have any questions 07 3858 5000

cheer all

You guys still in Castlemaine Street, Milton?

Choice of repairer?

Guarantee on all repairs?

Why should I change from Shannons to ecar?

Hi Peuty

Yes we are still at castlemains street, right opposite the suncorp stadium

yes our policy is a choice of own repairer policy. In terms of guarantees, if you choose your own repairer and they have a guarantee then you will have one. As we dont have control over where you may choose to take the vehicle for repairs we cannot guarantee them ourselves, youll need to select the repairer carefully.

why move from shannons? - cant answer that for you. I can tell you are policies are competitive, underwritten by APRA regulated underwriter, good claims service.

i dont want to tell you why i think we are better than anyone else, just answer specific questions you may have about us, and our policy

Hi Henry

We have been in the UK for nearly 7 years, Australia for nearly 3.

we are not the biggest insurance agent in Australia, but growing quickly.

In terms of staff, as everything is done online we dont need losts of call centre staff. We have about 25 involved at the moment and expanding

Hope that helps mate

Cheers
Craig

But what about the cost every time I wish to change something on my policy? Others do that for free, as well as cancellations and transfers.

Im not associated with these guys, but hey, you cant have your cake and eat it too....

You win in some areas (lower premiums), you lose in others. Typical internet based business strategy. For the simple easy to insure policies Im sure these guys would work nicely costwise...

Thats not me either...but....I can see where it would for many.

G'day Craig M,

Thanks for coming on the forum mate, much appreciated. Nice to get some answers to plenty of questions.

I have a quick question for you that hopefully you can answer.

Recently my wife was caught in a flood in our XR6 Turbo. The motor was ruined and we had to claim a new one. My current insurance company covered this accident with no questions asked - new engine.

If I were insured with yourselves and something like this happened again, would I be covered and what process would I have to go through?

Also, who are your preffered repairers in Tasmania?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Gary.
