I work in Local Government as a Cadet Engineering Officer specifically in the design section studying Civil Engineering at university. I have tried extending my job title on my profile but it never lets me. So I post what experience I have had with our council fleet and my opinion is discredited? Your a sad little man. After what people here are saying, i might actually not buy that XR8 i want in a couple years time, cus i was thinking the falc to be at least better than the commie in terms of reliability. |

If I was going to buy a small or medium car I would go a Mazda. They look good, have decent performace and are very reliable. My Laser had a Mazda engine (BP?) and it was probably the best car I ever had. My parents love KF Laser's so much they now have two. |

Bought a Mazda 6 MPS and never had a problem with it. Zero warranty claims and just works. Terri will go in a couple of years and if Ford quality and dealers havent been straightened out by then it will be no more Fords here. We also had a new Toyota dealership open and it hit all the dealers for six. The old Toyota dealer was pretty ordinary and was apparently complaining that Toyota was hard to deal with. ;) New dealer got a big chunk of the private and commercial market when they opened and certainly took sales from other brands. I suspect a lot of local fleet cars that once had Ford and Holden badges are now carrying Toyota ones instead. All comes down to quality and customer experience. Ford just don't get it. Dan |

Ford Fairlane 14
Why are they dropping the fairlane & LTD- cant they see their still selling like hot cakes Still, it's a dam shame for they’ve been a good true blue cruiser over the years.

Two problems I had, the aircon diffuser (?) got stuck so I couldn't regulate heat and cold, fixed under warranty. Most recently bonnet release handle snapped while trying to get at the compliance plate because she's being sold. Typical. Petrol prices will be a bigger concern in a few years time than reliability, that's for sure. :( |

I grew up in Fords and of the 15 cars I've owned, 11 of them have been Fords. My next car is a VW and when it's time for replacement, I doubt the first yard I visit will be a Ford yard, though I'll probably get an excellent trade in figure because it's not a Ford... |

It hasn't done it yet but the Mazda3 is set to overtake the Toyota Corolla and become Australias favourite small car and possibly favourite car by 2010. This is despite the Mazda 3 being 100% retail while the Corolla is increasingly becoming the fleet darling with an estimated 50/50 mix in 2007. I think the Mazda 3 deserves to be Australias favourite. Good looking car with a choice of hatchback or sedan and 3 engine choices the 2.0, 2.3 and 2.3 turbo (diesel?). The Mazda 3 is a million times better than the Corolla junk. |

Also, can someone clear up for me why Mazda 3 isn't sold to fleets? Do Mazda not allow it, or not give out fleet rebates or what?

I'd still like to know how Holden sold 3 Monaro's when they supposedly stopped making them 2 years ago??????????

My guess is that Mazda don't offer "fleet" discounts to anyone. This has made the brand very appealing and as a result, resale is great too. Ford, Holden or Toyota would never get away with not offering fleet prices. They would be accused of "ripping people off".
The 3 Monaros would have been a few that are still left unsold. |

I'm told that Mazda's "whole of life" cost isn't too attractive to fleet purchasers (price, running costs from servicing to fuel, then resale).
