In the add the BMW gets alittle bit sideways. This is shown for about 2 seconds. Is that the hooning part? the rest seems quite tame. if they cut that bit out surely they wouldn't have to ban the whole add

It might be BS, but the ad (cool as it was), was in fact depicting illegal behaviour. |

i used to think you could do a burnout on private property but you can't thats sa laws too. So how can they have burnout comps. whos property is that and is that allowed because the terms on the back of the ticket say if you die from result of injury its at your own risk.

The terms on the ticket have no power to overturn the law... they're there to protect the organisers from lawsuits if someone gets injured/killed. |

This is stupid, people are stupid. This add was one of the greatest car ads for some time. Only idiots would draw hoon conclusions to this.
All this is compounding to make me believe that a % of people live pathetic lives with nothing better to do then whinge. People are also wanting junk food ads banned because their kids are getting fat. There is no other way of looking at this. A country full of morons and many unused TV remotes, with a sad, little appreciation for art.

when i saw that ad the only thing i thought was look at what they did to that expensive car
it was a pretty cool ad and anyone who is seriously encouraged to hoon by watching it is OBVIOUSLY a complete idiot and probably doesnt have a license anyway such a small trigger... thats like saying i decided to jump off a bridge because i saw a bird fly off the westgate

One day the government will take everything too far, and people will rise up as one!-... oh never mind
Fact is the government does everything they do little by little, so the people dont REALLY become angry enough at any single time to do try and do something about it. If they just came out and banned everything possibly related to hooning at once, tens of thousands of in people of australia would fight back and say it's unfair.. but they know that and that's why the government works the way it does |

Where on earth did the stupid %&#^ word 'hoon' come from? The sound of the word itself sound so beurocratic/political it'd make anyones blood boil. Can't they at least follow new zealand and call them more appropriately 'boy racer laws'.

Apparently it meant one who lived off immoral earnings, now a 'hoon' would be known as a pimp.

I actually lodged a formal complaint against the NSW Cancer Councils "Everybody knows" add on the basis that it was disgusting (usually on just as I sit down for dinner!) and also as it would be impossible to prove that the people depicted contracted "their" disease from smoking - one of the criteria for commercials is they need to be factual.
They advised it was already subject to complaints and that the review board determined it was within the guidlines - I asked that it should be reviewed again but this was not allowable exercise was a total waste of time and now the tossers ban the Bimmer add, sometimes I really think Australia is a STUPID country. |

Went on you tube to see the ad just then ,very well done in my opinion.
I would have to say that Australia is realy gone down hill in the last 2 years that I have noticed especialy with the safety laws including the road transport but also workplace health and safety. recently had visitors from overseas stay with me and they literaly LOLed at seeing guys like truck drivers and construction workers in their hi-vis polo shirts . |

I thought the BMW add was done really well too.
Then you have adds on Tv like Lava Life and Lucy playing with a banana in her bathtub and girls gone wild and so on. Now this wouldn't be classed as acceptable behaviour and these actions done in public would be against the law. These adds are allowed to stay on because of their time slot. Why not have a time slot for great car adds that show off the capabillities of that car. The Thunder ute add was awesome. Mainly loving my Acdc. Are the same people that complain about a BMW illustrating its style as a piece of art going to complain that these commercials are going to make them want to take all there clothes off.

Australia is the only country in the world to ban the ad! incredible.
I emailed the Advertising Standards Board with a complaint with what they have done. Its not much, but they have to be shown we are not just mindless, gullible sheep. the email address for them is: administration@adstandards.com.au |
