My ED XR8 in black..a beautiful car to drive.I only sold it as I had just come back from overseas and needed the money..I did manage to sell it at a profit though, as the bloke who bought it was after that particular colour, but it was a sad day when he drove it away.

Yeah this always hurts thinking about, and I still get a ribbing from mates for selling them. Sold the GT back in '99 and the ESP a year or so later.
What a fool! Spent a small fortune on the GT's motor, was sensational. Had about 450hp, through the top loader & factory 3.0 diff, it really hauled from down low to 7k. Sold for $17k
Reason for sale? It was not being driven enough. What was I thinking!?
The ESP was a one owner 302, I had the engine rebuilt & stroked to 351 cubes. This was the wife's car. Didn't get more than a couple of half hearted phone enquiries at time of sale. Ended up selling to a friend for $6k.

Stupid thing is the small fortune back then for the GT's motor was nothing compared to what I've just now spent on my XY's new motor!

`56 mainline ute. project car. i was only about 18 at the time.

would not have taken much to get it ready for rego as a unrestored driver.
a bloke kept pestering me until i decided to let him have it for $400. i was nearly chasing him up the road to get it back off the trailer. i dont think he ever did anything with it. sat in his yard for years with a few others then they all disappeared.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

The worst move of my life was when I sold my XC Cobra.
Purchased in about '92 for $15500.
Sold it about three years later for $15000!!!!
All because I got married and needed a house. Bugga!
Was in excellent condition with only 53000km on the clock. 5.8 auto.
Number 164.
Does anyone know where she is now?

1996 EFII XR6 Le Mans Red. Manual. In a game of swings and roundabouts, I found myself driving another one about three years ago, all so we could afford an X5. If I'd have kept the car, it would have had about the same milage on it as my current EF, but I'd have had three pedals, sports exhaust and suspension, and FTRs. It was a brilliant car, that sadly, is no longer on the road.

My 67 year old dad died in 2000 two years after retiring and buying an XY. He'd always wanted one in the 70's but didn't have the $$$ to step up from an immaculate XP (til the late 70's when mum needed to learn to drive too so he got an Escort instead, but that's another story...). So he found a really nice low mileage 71 Futura, 250 T-bar auto, Lime Glaze metallic with vinyl roof and saddle trim, barely a hint of rust, Canberra car from new. Just a really, REALLY nice car.

When he died, I was the sole breadwinner, had a 4yo and a first home to pay for, nowhere to keep it and a brother and sister who just wanted their share of the estate. So listed it in Unique Cars, took ages to sell, eventually sold to a guy from the suburbs of Adelaide for... $4,000 :(

I'd give my left nut to have that car back now. Not to sell it again for it's worth today in $, but what it's worth in memories...

I always think about my Polynesian Green ED XR6 5 spd manual with momo wheel and cruise.

First car after getting off my P's. i have had a few liberty Gt's. B4 and XR8's. Still think the XR6 was the best car.

I would love to get an XR8 with the same specs. ......

Imagine an ED XR8 Sprint Polynesian Green 5 spd, momo wheel with cruise....

GTV6 Capri bought for around $3k..
Owned it for about6yrs. New Zf diff inners, D ported heads & mainfolds & 600 holley. Car caught fire & sold it scortched for $3.2 or 3.5k?
Bought for $3.2k an Aussie XP coupe with street legal 302w + c4 & barge diff.
Owned it for 13yrs, sold it for 6.8ish?
Now own a Jaguar XJ6 with a legit 302w/C4 combo. Poor car is out 9in the weather & may sell it.
Also own a FGF6. Don't care if I ownly drive it 6 times a yr, this HAS to be a KEEPER.
IMO best ALL OZ car since E49 & Phase 3.

Well I've had a few I've regretted selling.
my First car 1951 MK1 Zephyr.
1966 Mustang 289. worth a fortune now
ZD Fairlane.
NC Fairlane I got cond out of while sick
But most of all there are 2 vehicles that stand out and bring a smile to my dial whenever I think of them.
Both utes.
1 1964 XK modified ute. Even my son was upset when I sold it.
2. 1980 XD 351 V8 ute, modified, I finally sold it in 2000 . Yes Ford did make a few with heavy duty LSD & 4 wheel disc brakes std. Went Like a bullet
After it was sold it was used in several Bank robberies as the getaway car.
Good job I kept the sale receipts

My 521rwkw R32 GTR

I shudder to think at the $$$ i threw at that thing and at the time it made sense to sell it but every now and then i wish i just bit the bullet and kept it.

Was an insane car to throw around, ear to ear grin after every drive.

Lots of good memories, first 'new' car I ever bought, first car I nailed a chick in, first car I chucked a proper skid in

Sold it for $3000 in 2007….Regret it to this day.
I had a 98 EL GLi too. Bog standard with stuffed shockies. Chucked pegleg skids all day with no worries. Scary at 100kmh though due to shocks. Shouldnt have sold it & just forked out for new shocks & springs.
