Its the same car... Just with the build numbers started again and possibly a new badge or 2.
Nothing to get excited about, Ford are just trying to take some hype from the VF. Everyone will be dissapointed on Monday. |

That is the FPV specialty
Maybe they will release the 2013 GT which will include the R-Spec suspension mods as standard? I mean that's probably as much as they could do with the existing car without a development budget.

They released a supercharged V8 capable of smashing everything in its sights. A daily driver with 330 odd rwkw capable of 12 second passes on street rubber. Re released with R spec so it handles like it should. I wonder how many on here have been in one or driven one????? With all of fords issues at the moment.....one could hardly expect that they'd be investing in and building a coup that maybe 100 people would buy......lol Probably releasing a 351 kw GT to respark some nostalgia and conversation. |

Sounds right, but Ford might also take the opportunity to show off the cost savings on the cheaper floor mats too. Makes a nice contrast from Holden going on about upgraded materials and premium feel. Who wants that in an FPV! ;)

Not insignificant in itself. It would be nice if they did something to make the cars a little special that come from the Ford line. I'm not talking stripes or more power, just a little momento or token or something that harks back to the original generation GT's.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make R spec bits standard, but id say they are holding that for FH. |

If anything this is just bad publicity. For the average person they have just been thinking FPV has been operating as usual. Now they will be thinking why are Ford making a big deal about a regular GT and will find out that FPV is no longer a seperate entity. Should of said nothing unless its a limited edition model.

I know, a build plaque.
This car was built with pride by Akmed , Tran Phoc, Johnny Chiu, and Knackers Kennedy.

I would love to see a new coupe released. I mean there are so many people that want it, ford should do a limited run of them. I have a feeling it's going to either be the ho or the gt rolling out the broad meadows planet.

Agreed ^, I don't think people will be disappointed and I don't believe it's bad publicity.
It will be a good day and one that should be celebrated, whatever the reason behind it. |

But no one has taken any notice? HSV still smashing us on the showroom floor. Has me bamboozled as to why, as demonstrated by Kayos even Ford fans don't rate it. |

although it would be nice it's not just a matter of welding 2 doors shut and you have a coupe. there is major engineering and ADR compliance to consider, the design of a new car body is a huge undertaking and a coupe is a new car body. they would have to sell a fair few to justify the investment, hardly likely in the current climate. what they need to concentrate on is keeping the current falcon on track and boosting sales to maintain viability

Because Ford performance culture is confused and broken......... It's Ford , then it's limited release 3rd party offerings , then it's Tickford , then it's FPV , we have a FPV ute and then we dont.....we have an XR8 and then we don't ......and now they're telling us its all sweet cos they have shut down their performance arm and its Ford again..... The model lineups are confusing, there's an XR , GS , GT , GTE , G8 Force 8 and the specter of a GTHO. Black edition , R spec and combinations in between as the models get rationalized. Meanwhile....the red team have a solid line up with incremental technologies that are attractive for their punters and sway them to upgrade en masse. At Ford.....we harken back to the past to help sell cars to nostalgic old fools. At HSV ....they look forward to to help sell cars to savvy young execs and middle class BOGAN rich. The majority demographic is not on Ford's side.......... |

^^^^^ Although it's difficult to swallow there is a lot of truth in ESP's post. Even when it was Ford/Prodrive there were still upheavals and management cleanouts. Over at HSV everything seems a lot more stable. It wouldn't sway me to even consider an HSV but I would love to see more stability in FPV.

yet ford have a high tech quad cam multivalve supercharged performance engine with mountains of potential performance upgrades with no major hardware changes. Holden have a pushrod tractor engine that they have to keep boring out to get more power. are the public stupid or what?

Ford Performance Vehicles
Friday A particular Falcon variant will leave the Broadmeadows Assembly Plant on Monday for the first time in 37 years. Our new performance vehicle assembly facility will reveal the car on Monday. Do you know what it is? |
