Thats fair enough for the few who share the same sentiments but try telling that to those trying to cash in on the bf cobra at the time. Enthusiasts are few, vultures looking to cash in are rampant. Its about appreciating aussie iconic history to be shared with generations to come, not taking an opportunistic approach in helping your bank balance by picking at a nearly dead carcass. Sorry for my cynical viewpoint.

It's not cynical, it is how it is a lot of the time unfortunately. Many of us here, me included, want one of the last performance Falcons as a keepsake and because we are passionate about these iconic driver's cars. But true to form, the vultures are coming out of the woodwork. Which is funny because you've still got 3.5 years to buy one!

The run on Falcons probably means three people inquired last week rather than one. Dead cat bounce.

The v8s might be powerful but are just parts bin specials from the usa. With testing done here. .The 6 is completely unique to us. Gt might be the one people aspire to but is not at all special. Assembled here means nothing to be. May as well be a Holden cruze...

Buy turbo falcons people! They're theones we really should be desiring!

I bought an FG2 XR6T. It's an awesome car, smooth linear power and a real rush when on boost. I love it. But it has nothing on the a GT.

I will try to. My old man is going to probably get a gt but I'll try to talk him out of it in favor of an f6. He has an fg xr6 turbo at the moment bought new.

Smile Re: Falcon buyers come out of the woodwork

I will buy one of the last 6Ts over the V8 unless circumstances with work or a change in income prevent it.

Will hold off this year to see if work becomes less volitile (i work in a coal mine and the immediate future is pretty grim) and to see what ltd editions they release or what they do in regards to an update.

Before you tell me I'm nuts for picking the 6 over the 8 here's my reasoning behind the decision:
First and foremost I'm not buying to make money out of like some will, although it will likely hold its value much better than my current car.
It will be the last opportunity to buy the Aussie designed and assembeld inline 6 EVER and I love that engine. I have only ever owned 6 cyl falcons of one version or another. My first car, an alloy head 4.1 XD S-Pack.
While I've always aspired to own a Ford V8, the current Miami V8 doesn't have the Australian heritage that the 6 does and its likely we could even buy a similar engine post 2016, albeit in a different platform so for me its not as special. The 6 been built here longer than I've been around, yet is available nowhere else in the world so is worth buying imo.

Sure the V8 might be more desireable for some, but the aussie 6 is about to become extinct , gone forever so its my pick.

I thnk the GT is special to people (like me) who were around when the original GTs were around.

I have absolutely no ineterst in a turbo six, even if they are a smige quicker. I never race other cars on the road anyway, ever.

All I know is that the GT will always be my dream car. I would be a little scared to trade my BA GT on a new GT in 2016. The BA has been such a perfect car with 100% reliability. What if the new one ends up being a dog? Maybe I'll just stick with the BA. I already have my affordable dream car.

Can we afford the luxury of just assuming that ther will be a Falcon available in another two or three years time?

What if sales continue to decline and the plant goes back to three day weeks?

I know Ford has commitments to supplier contracts but sales today are just as important as sales in 15 months time.

While I agree with you, my priority is feeding my kids and servicing the mortgage at the moment, not to keep the production line humming with my huge order of one car.

I don't have the luxury of buying right now because I could be out of work next week. Actually I could but it would be a poor decision all things considered. That's life! Ford are going to have to suck it up. LOL

If you want the last car off the line wait until the auction. It will most likely be auctioned and the money going to charity as someone will pay gazillions for it.

I'll probably buy a F6E before production stops. The I6 had heritage, the Miami V8 doesn't. If I want a decent V8 in a Ford I'll wait for the Mustang to go on sale in Australia, or a F350 Super Duty V8 diesel

Bought three new cars in my life, two being Ford's one being a Falcon GT, the GT will never be for sale, already have the green light to buy what ever comes out at the end of the production run, hopefully will be some sort of limited edition tribute to Ford Australia GT, and yes it will be driven

I am however not dead set on buying one, it all depends on if it is the car I want, if it is love on first sight, an order will be placed!

Ill take that bet.
Word is that you're quite an unattractive man with a beige car. A very unattractive combo regardless of the badge on the grill! LOL
Not that anyone will be looking at you or your car when I pull up next to it on my beautiful black Daytona which also has the sound, feel and vibe happening! Chicks dig bikes more than a GT.

Now on a serious note, love that movie. Everytime I hear a big two stroke outboard or dig a hole I think of it.

That is sad ......... really. I do know that not everyone wants a GT over a turbo or whatever but when the halo car is described this way from the Ford fraternity, no wonder Ford are packing their bags. I know I am from the era but still, what hope did they have?

Nice marketing Ford ;) Get sales up by announcing the demise of local made Fords.

It'll be interesting to see if they go all out with the last Falcons in 2016, build something to make the nameplate remembered for in decades to come.

We have a world class high power supercharged V8 being compared to a Holden cruize. Am I in the wrong forum??

I've been tossing up Ranger or new Falcon to replace my FG. I still think the Ranger has won me over. In saying that, I've been looking around for a new XR6 Turbo manual, last week there was 2 in QLD. So I don't know how many Falcons will get sold if there is no supply.

There may be reason to question the build quality from this point on due to ford employees not having a good reason to care anymore

NO! There is absolutely no reason. This isn't 1970 ...... quality control is fierce at Ford. There are checks all the way through and at the end. Not really giving much faith to the work ethics of those who work there?

A lot do the storage and not drive thing. I reckon its not about the money its the car why have it and not drive thats is a shame. I have just bought a used 2007 BF MK11 BOSS 302 GT they are even rarer so I am told. I will be driving it rather than park it. Its a sad day for all of us FORD closing. Any idea what they will be importing into Australia for everyone. I guess they will come from the USA.
