Do the buyers then have to pay stamp duties (#001 since its already rego'ed)/onroad costs/etc ontop of those prices?

As much as i love falcons and FPV's, and would love to have one of those GT-F's parked in the garage, I can't believe they fetched such a high price, great for the charity - still just a FG falcon in my eyes though.

Considering pre-GFC Phase 3 money, $236k isn't bad going for the last ever Falcon GT to ever roll off the factory floor.

Good on Ford Aus for retiring the name in a way that benefits a great cause.

Congrats to auction winners. Awesome to see that money go to a good cause and not profiteering.

I don't think the guys bidding on this would have complained about the sticker price.

Congratulations to the winning bidders and to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. But for all the fanfare I think this is a bloody sad day, because except for the few speculators selling their allocations at the sky high prices, will never be another new GT or FPV Falcon available for sale. :(

This is not Joe Bloggs that has won. It's obviously someone very wealthy who is a collector or a business. Don't forget, it will also be tax deductible.

Congradulations to the lucky owner of the very last FPV/Ford GT to ever roll out of Ford Australia. this car will no doubt be part of History. I wonder what colour the owner chooses?

Perhaps the owner of a rather large trucking fleet?

For that last 380 it was car yards bidding for it, maybe it was some Ford car yards bidding on this. Put it on the showroom floor off to the side on display.

What's with the tone? People were discussing the price that it went for.

I hope Ford auction the last Falcon for Prostate cancer research. Prostate cancer targets 3 out of 5 men.

I don't think so. For a start they bought a car from Ford, Ford made the donation. Besides that, donations do not allow a material benefit.

Quote:
You can only make tax deductible gifts or donations to organisations that have the status of deductible gift recipients (DGRs).
Deductions for gifts are claimed by the person that makes the gift (the donor).
For you to claim a tax deduction for a gift, it must meet four conditions:
The gift must be made to a deductible gift recipient. We call entities that are entitled to receive tax deductible gifts 'deductible gift recipients' (DGRs).
The gift must truly be a gift. A gift is voluntary transfer of money or property that you receive no material benefit or advantage for.
The gift must be covered by one of the gift types. The most common gift is money but deductions may be claimed for other types of gifts such as property or shares.
The gift must comply with any relevant gift conditions. For some DGRs, the income tax law adds extra conditions affecting the types of deductible gifts they can receive.

I completely agree with you and would add that I couldn't even see $100K Kiwi in one here at the regular retail price but obviously one person saw this as an investment or perhaps a three dimensional piece of art ?

I guess its a bit like art isn't it. When you see what some over indulged or mega rich people pay for a stupid painting they hang on their wall it brings this into some sort of perspective.

Same it wasn't for prostrate cancer research...why do I get the feeling that's men's health is less important sometimes...

Lol couldn't help yourself could you.

Atleast you don't have to worry about anyone suggesting your car is a three dimensional piece of art!

Hmm the last GT Falcon ever built. Would love to know who bought it.

No, you're quite correct I couldn't and don't but also I can't help myself speculating how the buyer will feel if / when they bring out the last and better looking, (in my opinion) XR8 Sprint with the same running gear ? Egg on face or is he / she too rich to even care ?

Really. Well i know Ford aren't going to put the 351 Tune in any XR8. So I guess that makes your point null and void. Even if they did it still wont have a "GT" badge on it.

You would know all about egg on face wouldn't you

That's not a very nice thing to say to someone who has just donated so much money to such a great cause.

Sits back and waits for Rodge to run off to his local Ford dealer and buy FGX XR8 to save face.

I agree with you. The reality in my experience based on what little I've seen of wealthy people investing in collectible cars is that those people usually have substantial wealth elsewhere, usually in property or shares, often both and someone making this sort of commitment would probably have a net worth of several million dollars, in all likelihood significantly more.
Its good that they chose to use some of there wealth to support a worthy charity. They probably grew up with Ford's and have so much money they couldn't care less whether this is a good investment or not.

I like to think they did not buy it as an investment but out of passion, the passion of owning the last GT Falcon.

No end of run XR8 will ever be a GT.

To some people the GT is worth more than some idea of investment value, performance figures or comparison with other brands. To some it is not.

Any reason why you'd prefer a car tuned by Roush over any of the other myriad of Mustang tuners in the 'States? I've seen Roush mentioned a number of times on this forum recently, and so I'm just wondering why they're the preference over Saleen or another competitor - like Shelby American.

This is a serious question, not a trick or anything Rodge.
