Almost every person I've seen in an electric car has been over the age of 50. Anyway apparently building an electric car and charging it off a coal power station is better overall than using petrol car after a certain cumber of kilometres. Once you get decent renewable's working that breakeven point will drop. Of course electric cars shouldn't be banned. Fuel won't last forever, so lets get people who hate driving and only have a car because they need one into electric cars and allow petrol to last for centuries to come. I used to hate electric cars, but then I realized they are needed if you want cars to survive into the future. |

The SA and Fed gov's are giving $2billion (IIRC)to upgrade the Tesla batt farm in SA from 100MW to 150MW (megawatts) - it'll power all of SA for around 8-9mins, enough time to throw an extn cord over to Vic . I guess the majority of us have no objection to EV's and clean energy - problem is you have to look at the reality, effects and cost involved in implementing these systems. |

The Outlander PHEV emits a sound when driving through carparks/slow driving for pedestrians. Its not that loud though.

And they have these things called ears and eyes, you can use to read and watch the news with. Then maybe you would actually know what is going on since the closure of the hazlewood plant, which overnight saw victorias electricity supply drop 25%, and then forced victoria to import electricity from other states. www.google.com Or are facts rants now? |

I wonder what happened to all those homebuilt EV's people built back in the 80s and 90's.
And boats, there was a heap of electric powered launches around then too.

You might like to check that figure; the original cost of the project was less than $100mil. It seems unlikely an upgrade would cost $2bill |

Oh the rampant homophobic misogynist transphobia in this thread. I wilt with offence. Do you not know that 6 bazillion blue haired unicorns will die as a result of suggesting that electric vehicles may not be part of the planet's communist, ahem, green direction...

Is it true that if a EV is involved in a bad crash, not to touch it or you may get zapped or fried to a crisp.

Yesterday we had a 40 degree day and had a 4 hour blackout because everyone tried using their AC - imagine everyone charging their cars
Maybe that's what we need for a wake-up call, rolling infrastructure failure on a national scale, let people have unreliable power that's on and off for a few hours a day, that way they'll pull their head out their *** come election time. Everyone has 2 hours of power a day but you don't know where you'll have it. Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 22-11-2019 at 02:11 PM. |
