so no Raptor version, a shame, but understandable given there are already so many model variants of the Everest/Ranger. I prefer the look of the outgoing Everest, but the interior of the new one is a big improvement. the Defender still tugs the heartstrings as my next ride, but this will definitely get a serious look, especially considering how much cheaper it will be.

Love the look inside and out of the new Everest. The front of old model looked good, but the rear always looked a little awkward to me. This new design is whole lot more cohesive.

I love the look of the new Everest. The front, in particular, looks very much like an F-Series, and that is a good thing. It looks very much like a Ford truck should look.

I'd say China with stricter emission requirements

Had a look on the Ford website and it looks like the Blue isn't going to be offered on the Platinum?! There goes any thought of buying it. Yes, a colour is important to me.

Agreed! The rear end was always very average with the old Everest. This one looks amazing.

Not wrong Simon, you guys deserve a pat on the back for this.

IMO the short falls the current Everest has have all been addressed, perhaps as it was designed to compete with Prado? but now it surely ranks above and may even attract interest from Patrol & Cruiser owners

The Sport with 3.0 and raised roof rails would be my pick.

Absolutely correct, all the changes have transformed Everest, I was a big critic of the narrow rounded look of the current vehicle but man, the new vehicle has more presence and looks to be just more everywhere. Increased track width also gives better centre of gravity which is big news in 4WDs and during development, a little bird mentioned the lengths Ford went to getting a quiet cabin for a premium SUV feel.

T6 team does a mic drop, this is a top effort, we’ll done everyone.

I love what Ford Australia has developed and hope these new Everest and Rangers for that matter do extremely well, but when it comes to all the short comings being addressed ?, I personally think they have overlooked a fundamental key area that a high percentage of buyers (including more so private buyers) would have liked to have seen in these new models, that being a larger size fuel tank.

As you say when the Everest may be crossed shopped by either brands such as Toyota (Landcrusier and Prado) or Nissan (Patrol) all these competitors have focussed on this key area.

Especially considering now that Ford Australia are themselves promoting both the Ranger and Everest as a vehicle to use in such environments that 4X4 extremists like to use them for.

Ford Australia have done their research when it comes to water crossing with the higher quoted figure which they like to pay special attention to, they have also done many other changes that have accommodated a much better vehicle for 4x4 purposes.

But this one little area which I believe is a key area they still have not addressed to bring themselves inline with not only most of their direct competitors but the attended buyer audience that they so much refer to.

Hopefully in future models we may see this as an advancement that Ford Australia can promote themselves on.

There is an ecoboost 4 version of the current model for china already.

It won't make it to North America, but I have seen a few yanks suggest they should as it would be a good competitor for the US market Toyota 4Runner.

Probably don't want it stepping on Expeditions toes though, even though it's from the class size above.

An extra Tank? I think such a feature could be addressed in the growing aftermarket 4WD options, as those taking their new cars to the Bush will be decking out out with bull bars Fridges etc anyway..

our old Prado was standard with 2 tanks, we rarely used it as it was a lot of weight to carry around - besides that the newer vehicles can achieve the same range on one Tank.

I'm not up with new Prado features But have noticed most have the spare underneath now which suggest no 2nd tank.. maybe its an option for them.

we all know most of these will be "Toorak tractors" with the occasional weekend getaway so IMO the 2nd tank is not needed

Yes the option is there in the aftermarket arena but I believe that when going down this path, it negates the DTE and render's it useless, so the option is there but it has it's drawbacks being an aftermarket inclusion.

I personally would use and love the extra capacity size tank even for just the odd weekend trip, being able to cover at least 1,000 k's without needing to stop or make provisions to find a petrol station would be good.

The Prado I believe has the option of tanks if the buyer decides to have the spare wheel rearward mounted or underneath, all others just have a larger capacity tank.

Its just an area I feel that they could have capitalised on considering where they bench mark their intended audience.

You can program the current one for a bigger fuel tank in your backyard using Forscan. I assume it will be updated once the new one is out. It's literally a 5 minute job.

Beat me to that. Biggest issue with the old Everest was the low GVM that made it so difficult to get a long range tank or anything as it eats into the GVM

That is something I would seriously be calculating regardless of additional towing weight etc. No point increasing towing limit if its only you, the dog and an esky to hit max GCM. Although to most blokes here, that's all they will need heading out to the sticks with their caravan.

Looks tough AF. I like the current Everest but the current back looks way too soft. It makes a Honda HRV look tough.
If I were to buy a new 7 seat 4x4 any time soon the v6 Everest would be in 1st place.

It's so good how it's more common for new 4x4's to get stock standard recovery points.
As a former new Jimny owner I appreciate ready to go recovery points. Recovery points were non existent for a Jimny with an ARB bulbar.

I think you meant Explorer but yeah, that may be the case although Edge has lived as the two row Utility below Explorer for over a decade.

Ford US leadership is a bit out of touch with buyers, seems constantly surprised at the number of buyers
wanting its new products, maybe it’s just as well that Everest isn’t planned for there, I doubt they have the
capacity to cover demand in any regard….

the aftermarket accessories plan for both Ranger and Everest is fully integrated. I'm guessing, but I am hopeful that the approved after market long range tank will come with all required software updates too.
