Yes, that is a bargain, but being a Renault, at the first sign of any mechanical or electronic woes, you just park it & cash in the rego.

[QUOTE=Crazy Dazz;6679473]So friend is looking for a cheap car, and has decided she wants an SUV (an automatic.)
Yeah, I know, if buying a $5k wreck I wouldn't be buying an SUV, but what can I tell ya, she's an adult and makes her own choices.

A Terri might be a good option, were it not for petrol hitting $2

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned a RAV4.

Most are either too sick to go or have been reasonably well looked after.

Purchased a 2006 Cruiser for FIL $3000 with full logbook service, RWC auto with sunroof and Toyota quality paint (flintstone beige,so rough you could strick a match on it). Being he's 85 and still fit as a bull it will do him to drive from Bundy to Brissy when he comes to visit.

Just my 2c worth.

So far the most prevalent seems to be the Craptiva,
with a few Honda CR-Vs,
and a smattering of Hyundai Sant Fe/ Kia Sportages.

Anything to recommend one model over the others?
Anything in particular to look out for?
(Other than be cheap bombs over a decade old)
A reliable SUV under 10 years old for 4K, really?
You'd be lucky to get a scooter for that sort of money!

The SUV requirement has been removed.

There are a few dozen post 2005 cars in WA for under $4k.

Choose the best 5 closest to you, have a look and just offer full price to the best one you find.

oh yeah, it gets worse. Her Mum's car shat it's clutch, so there went the cash.
However she now has job offers, so hopefully the budget will be up again next month.
