You assume WAY too much. I am not a "them there book racer" that you are implying. I race... for real. I have an AU I6, I've owned a 5.0 E Series, I have driven eveything from 351 clevos (stock and modded), 302's, 308's, 347's etc. There are a number of members on this forum with 347's and every other variation you like. So istead of looking like a tool, use the search button or the timeslip database and have a damn good look next time. Here, let me help. Was the 347 in reverse? thats a serious question?
Honestly an I6 beating a 347, and you scratch through with a 15.2. A very very mild 5L with exhaust, intake can run a 15.2 Even me running a 14.9, can harass a few 5L's, but a stroker, not a chance. LOL my mate has a 308/355 stroker in a VK and its not a topshelf engine either.. even it running very badly and untuned tore my car a new one.. You can beat 2 of the V8's listed there, 1 of them being totally stock and the other has a cat back. Hardly strokers. Dont get me wrong, you can get a 6 knocking off a few 8's, no doubt at all.. but a stroker and a 15.2 ??!?! WTF!?!?! |

As I said it was a hot day.
Thats what they ran. It's not going to be anyones best time, as I stated. : They were both crap times and both cars would have run quicker in better (cooler) conditions. You are quoting cars best times, and I should be around half way down that NA6 list too (in crap conditions) : Mph shows a vehicles power. Times can be greatly effected by 60 foot time, High stalls, manuals etc will have better 60 foot times. So theres no v8's in your list, doing better than mid 13's, even stroked. Many NA 6's are doing this now, with stock size bottomends. For thousands of $$$ less, with 2 less cylinders and 1- 1.6L less capacity. Gtech results vary and cannot be compared to actual times. No stroked sixes on the list bud? why strokers at all then? : I'm sure someone will stroke a ford six before too long, It's been done for the holden v6. Their have been carbie windsors into the 11's so whats going on? (5L's even. not strokers) The same set up could be injected. I like the debate. Oh, but there are Cortina's doing 13's and even 12's with the I6 isnt there? Of course their is. Of couse there are also Cortinas and Capri's running V8's in the 9's or better. Please. Stop reading books and listening to heresay and at least get the facts straight. I am a full on I6 Falcon fan. I love my VCT and it has held up well.. but even when its running like a gem and pulling its best times, even now after G&D has worked some more magic on it just last week, there are AU V8's out there, both 5.0 and strokers, that will pummel me on even a hot and crappy day. Yes, you may have beaten an 347 once but to assume that this means you have the ability to take out any and all other V8's is a pipe dream. I've beaten plenty of V8's, even the odd LS1 but that doesnt mean I can beat them all. In fact, I'll be lucky to beat 1 in 50 or 1 in 100 of the LS1's, 347's and BOSS powered cars. You can argue it till you are blue in the face.. all you will get is laughed at. Quit while you are ahead.

No, I admit I have been beaten by 8's,
(it bugs me for days), But buck for buck I reckon they (4L or 5L) will do similar times. There are plenty of fast 5L holdens for example. I find them (vn to vp) to occasionally fly ( a couple have beaten me). My mate has one with 280hp @ wheels (215kw @ wheels) and wants a race. |

I am glad you posted peoples actual times,
and I retract my "looked in book" statement, as these ones are real times. Strokers should be in their own list though I reckon. Nothing I have said was read in a book so WTF!! was with that statement you made. And I never said I could beat any V8, I mentioned one, Real world, situation where it occured. So WTF why lie. :jab: Last edited by heckaz performance; 14-04-2006 at 04:41 PM. |

NA 6's into 13's - 4 Falcon based cars that are proven How many unstroked stock headed, late model windsors are doing this? - More than there are I6's with similar mods. In fact, in the AU range, mod for mod, the V8 is almost always superior. Given that the AU is now 8 years old I'd classify them as late model but the E Series is getting a bit long in the tooth the be "late model" now. 2 series out of date at best.

A Stroker is a stroker,
And, your list was all sized V8 vs 6cyl 4L sixes, but, Yes Xflow should be seperate (you did it anyway, everyone would) Just as we are not comparing Windsors to the New V8's I didn't know we were only talking in the AU range of Windsor, I wasn't, my cars are all E - series. Like I said buck for buck they are pretty even. |

I don't try and race ... I'd break the timing gear ..... actually I don't think it registers anything over 20 seconds for the 1/4mile.
Actually I think you just get the message on your timeslip "go home and don't come again" .... kinda like the old HSC TER marking under 15% .... LOL Just kidding people (not about my times though .... LOL)

What was this thread about again? Oh yeh, 6 cyl mods and why we do them. Obviously not to beat V8s, but just to beat other 6s, with the occasional V8 thrown in for desert.

WTF!!!
No I'm not short (6ft). I thought the Thread was talking about "why people do up 6cyl", And I said why I did it, It seems like the Thread is really about V8 owners bagging the crap out of 6cyl owners who actually answer the Threads original question. If any NA 6cyl can beat your Windsor, you should be embarassed. By the way, Your missus reckons you're a "short" person Bluedriver. |

And by the way,
Why are the V8's racing against 6's proud of it, The 6's aren't racing against 4cyl's, They are racing you V8's. Which takes balls. So hows your V8 go against a larger capacity engine? The New fords and Holdens Flog you. So you have to resort to racing against 6's which can still beat you on occasion. |

Ok, True
Casper, you are the main one doing 99% of the bagging. The statements I made answered the question in the Thread. I bet your car runs a little slower in hot conditions, as everyones does. : So you may have had a 10th on me at the most, I've upgraded my Fuel System now, And would probably beat you now anyway, (but am going a GT42 Turbo so will smoke em past you) : You're not that quick, certainly not quick enough to justify your smart allec, but incorrect comments: : Most Strokers do not have a TE50 manifold, (internal trumpets, big plenum) So they are often not as quick or powerfull as a TE50. They are a quick Windsor, and I never said I could beat one. Remove all the strokers from your list of times, And theres not too much difference, between 6 or V8 Which was the original Question. Seeing you are mostly AU guys, you do have better heads than the earlier V8's, I was talking all injected Windsors (from e- series.) : |
