Serviced almost 20 yr old mower and mowed the lawn. Pretty happy with it, especially servicing part.
Pictures attached. Regards, George V Last edited by George V; 01-07-2022 at 10:31 PM. |

Now onto something with no lack of grunt. We picked up a Toro tow behind. This thing will clear a fairway of leaves in two passes and we have to be careful not to blow over any golfers or they're buggies. We thought that was just a gimmick told to us by the salesman but I can confirm it will knock you off your feet from close range... c'mon guys you'd try it wouldn't you?

That looks, quite simply, an awesome thing to have in the shed.

hehe Rallye love it, as you know being a golfer I recognised what thats for straight up....
Can imagine some Members having a Bi atch at many a course's as the groudsmen go back and forth lol..... I've seen some brilliant mounted rotating blowers at greens only, so well set up and how it clears the greens from leaves and crap. Love a smaller version for home. Getting onto Stihl, well there not like they used to be like most brands in quality BUT to date my petrol one is still the ducks guts for me.

We do get a few complaints and to be honest I can understand, they are a pretty offensive machine. I just signal "can't hear you" as I drive past

Not sure if you blokes are into fragrances, but if you want to smell like a petrol-powered mower that accidentally ran over your herb garden, get a sample of Dior Fahrenheit EDT,
Personally didn't like it, but just sayin. |

I used a petrol hedge trimmer (Stihl HS 45) for the first time in years today.
Hated the it! The noise, the vibration and the fumes are a huge reminder of how good battery gear is now. And those fumes linger on your clothes for hours too. I also felt like it lacked the finesse I can achieve with a lighter battery tool. Very happy to have put that tool away.

My client comes home and cracks out the cheese platter and red wine, 2 hours later, we start a second bottle. That made me fatigued.

My sister has a rental proporty that she employs me to maintain the lawns and gardens. That means she knows the investment in the garden is not going to ruined by uncaring tenants.
Arrived today to find a children's play tent has joined the trampoline. I'm (begrudgingly) fine to move the trampoline but the tent needed to trimmed around.

Better check AirBnB - it’s probably a $250/night glamping listing.

Can anyone suggest a decent ride on mower?
Looking for something with 38"+ cut. Automatic (is that what they call Hydrostatic these days)?? Not those zero turn jobs. Will be for my elderly parents to use so must be 'car like'. Needs to be similar to their 20yr old Rover they are replacing. Willing to spend up to $5k

I got my old Rover ProCut out of the shed today and took to do a couple of jobs.
This thing always on the first or second pull, today she didn't want to wake from it's extended slumber. I guess the fuel was stale, even though I topped the tank with fresh stuff. Choke, no choke, full throttle, idle throttle, I even pulled the plug and cranked it over a few times to clear it out. Nothing, was looking like I would have to drive home and put the Bushranger back on the ute. Then I pulled the air filter off and squirted WD40 down the carby in desperation. That did the trick! A bit of black smoke and a decent rev to clear its lungs and we were in action.

buy a can of 'Start ya bastard' controversial name but Ive seen it start a tractor that had sat idle over 10 years, no change of diesel, few cracks then squirt of this and pop pop bang away she went.
I have used it on a petrol genset that had not been used in 5 years.

Would smoked out what ever caravan park I was staying, at the time. Works well. Perfect name as you cranked over the diesel.

So my first week of self employment has gone well. I planned to take the tuesday off (after the monday pub holiday) but the universe had other ideas. I had 3 separate meetings with prospective customers, all referred to me by existing clients.
One is a bloke who bought a baller place on an acre in an expensive leafy suburb, he will be redeveloping it and getting a high end landscape designer to update it, needs me a min of 1 full day a week, and basically said, "How soon can you start?". He wants me to source him a ride on for the property too. It appears that selling myself for the last decade is directly transferable to getting gardening jobs! At this rate, ill be permanently booked within a fortnight

So, an equipment update the Huski 322L has finally had some use it took me 3 weeks before it came out on jobs, i had to get used the walking backwards to do the vertical cut, but the little bugger has some grunt! I used it on an overgrown 1 acre hills property, it doesnt even slow down in the heavy stuff.
The same property has a 10yo HRU216 with the GXV engine on it, but it wouldnt rev, so i took it home, changed the filthy oil and sparkplug, and found the governer lever was so gummed up with crud it wouldnt increase revs under load. All fixed now and its nice to use a self propelled on such a big place.
