They've updated the site again to fix some specs, but now the wheel sizing has been deleted for XR8?

Also, those of you with a GT need not worry, as the XR8 weighs a good 30kg more.

Id take the 30kg and save $10-20k thanks.

Well, I didn't pull the trigger on an FPV did I? ;) Couldn't justify the spend.

Quite right, considering what comes standard on the XR8, I'm not surprised it is heavier.

Could I be considered obsessed if I have bought the K&N filter for this already? My wife just laughed and rolled her eyes...

Just quietly I don't think anyone with a GT is worried... They still have a GT and there is so much to it that isn't replicated in an XR8 (not that the XR8 is a bad car, it's bloody good).

The GT has never been about gadgets as far as I can tell. I see a BA XR8 on the road I barely notice it, I see a BA GT on the road and my head turns. The toughness that is added by the bespoke exterior of the FPV's should not be under estimated.

Me too. You could always take the spare and the jack out if it comes with one. Then you're probably back around GT weight if you're heading to the track.

EDIT:

Ditto. But unfortunately most of the time it is because the BAs I see are in really bad condition. FPV or Ford, they are all starting to show their age. I'd call my XR8 a roughie, but it is still better than a lot of the BA GTs I have seen getting around.

XR8 for under 60k with R-spec suspension, staggered wheels, Hot new front end, jag style rear lights and BLACK roof lining!

Once it ( teh xr8 ) comes out I will make up my mind on what colour to buy...
Black, white or some sort of Grey

Since that topic will end in tears and alot here dropped good money on a retuned GT then perhaps we should leave that one alone?

Both cars are exceptional. FWIW I actually love the FG XR8 shape, that with a newer n/a 5.0 would have had me weak at the knees.

Still no decent shots from Ford of the rear end?

I dont see the fascination in black headlining but each to his own. VE S & SS commodore's had them and I think they were dropped for VF.

How gorgeous is the 'paid actor' selling the ranger on TV at the moment.

If she legitimately worked for Ford selling cars, she would have the blokes lined up to take the Ranger for a test drive.

I'd just hand her a blank cheque.

smokin'!

She looks like a teenager. I can understand that you and others might go for that, but she's far too young looking for me. They should have got Catriona Rowntree or someone who looks like her.

Now they've removed all information on the V8! Ok, I'm going to stop looking now, I'm guessing that the pages aren't meant to be properly live as they are hard to find in the firsy place.

If the new XR8 used a US type blower and intercooler setup then I would be. But it doesn't, therefore I'm not. Mines still a GT, the other is a XR8.

They need to stop being lazy and list the specs of each car properly. Stating 'as per XXX plus' is hard to follow, and I like to see my information together. Following the bouncing ball makes it harder to absorb the full list of goodies.

First world problems hey?

Ford will have emptied the parts bin into the XR8 on purpose. They WANT GT owners to be envious because it may attract them into the showroom for the "upgrade". Ford dont care about loyalty or keeping FG owners happy, they have their money already. They certainly will not be writing off FG FPV owners as potential customers for the new XR8 by not making it attractive with features that their cars do not have. Maybe the reason there are no engine specs listed is because they intend to throw the 351 in there. We assume it will be the 335 but the 351 might be enough to get customers across the $65k+ line or get FG GT owners to trade up. Its not like the engine will cost them any more but they will be able to ask a higher RRP because of it.
FPV owners though do have an exclusive product that is no longer available with a badge that holds a lot of history in the country. At this late stage in the game Ford don't care about history, GT's, customer and fan loyalty or any of that. $$$$ is all they are thinking about now.

I actually don't think Ford would consider a Miami GT owner as a likely customer for the FGXXR8. In fact I doubt they'd even think a Boss 315 GT customer is prospective buyer.

I also would've thought most people on here understand why that's the case too.

The XR is going to be a cracking car, but it will never be a GT.

Everyone is a potential customer. The job of sales and marketing is convincing you that there is value worth buying into. I think a XR after an FPV is a downgrade but Ford are not going to sell it like that, if you can afford the car then you are a potential client. My partners uncle is getting a dealerships first XR8 in NZ, he is trading a GTE.

i will be very surprised if the xr8 hasn't got 351kw because the ecu or software whatever they did for gtf its a bit of a step backwards two the 335 maybe it could be badged 335 with some extra go.

6 months ago i sold my ba gt cause i wanted a Mustang. the year long wait, zero information from my local dealer and no word on a supercharged model turned me away. enter ford's announcement of the xr8 with "apparently" fg gt running gear and wheels and another wait without any serious information from ford.

recently i found a beautifully kept, low kilometer fpv built fg gt. those two letters mean way more to me than feeling envious over the hot new front end. i'll be buying the fg gt and save on depreciation.

I agree, but it's also their job to target the people they are most likely to succeed in selling the car to. I'm not sure they would think they have too much chance with too many SC GT owners.

Not going to happen out of respect for the GTF guys...and would you really do that to the bloke who dropped $200k on a Falcon?

Its 335...they could get away with 315 and it will still smash the SS but since its all in a tune then it keeps a buffer if Holden pull their finger out.
