Tragic, ive been holding off selling the Aluminattor with the view to getting the last of the XR8's but no matter how hard I try, I just cant get over how badly Ford got the front wrong...
There, Ive said it. The rear is beautiful I really like it especially in black (which is what I was going for) but they just pug-nosed the front... the Mustang look was fine with me and it could have worked but its been taken way too far and too flat. Sorry Ford, ill keep my FG and wait for the Mustang pricing to be released. Daniel |

Personally I prefer the whole package, looks and running gear. Each to their own though, not everyone has to like gt's. If the XR8 does it for you you can save a few grand and be happy. Personally I'd take the gt any day its just more special to me and has that great tough look.

I finally realise why the turbo wheels look familiar,
Basically the same design, great place to be taking inspiration if you ask me. |

Those badges....maybe they could of done something within the rear garnish. The blue xr6t has some good angles then it just takes one to make you squirm.
I'll stick with saying the FG XR8 is the best looking stock Falcon IMO....wouldn't say no to a FGX from a raffle though.

Some of the GT talk does get to the point of being laughable though. No I am not singling you out. If you need that aggressive look throw a set of wheels and vinyl (if that floats your boat) at it from your savings. Then it has the aggressive look with the personal touch. Moving on... |

Either way without the gt and the people who love it the Miami would never have been made. The XR8 will be the performance bargain of the decade but only because of how great the GT was before it.

Maybe the front grill could be rounded, rather than angled/cornered at the edges, The head lights might be extended a little more towards the centreline.
Does that make it a bit more like an Aston Martin ?

Your right..but it would have been any other V8 engine that they decided to use at the time...who knows they could have thrown 20M (and spent another 20M on bits people see) at the 5.4 and done a bit more...all of which means nothing. The XR8 is what it is, who cares what its built from it will be for sale for $xx.xx and in competition with many other good cars in that range.

Me fully realising the new XR8 is not a GT, and not meant to be for that matter. I think the GTF book ended that part of Ford Au history quite well......... more the XR8 is an affordable everyday car for many and the last locally built performance V8 Ford Falcon. Although I'm sure this won't stop the car mags from doing an inevitable comparison with the RSpec or GTF in the near future

Even the best camera's can't overcome lens distortion. Wait for your eyes to process the image in the real 3D world before coming to any conclusion. You can't rely on pictures to get the real taste of what the design has to offer.
Sure, there is nothing wrong to simply not like the design theme, or elements of, but in overall perception and appreciating where they've taken it, you have to see it in the flesh before writing it off. just my opinion. |

Just do what I did with my AU and buy the clear ones for $40 all up. Well worth it.
Funny how much meaner the car is when lower. With that front, they look like they sit too high. Future mods perhaps..
