I don't think the front overhang is any more than FG, it's just that the forward edge of the bonnet and grill is, making it appear so. Strange that in today's fashion of shorter overhangs they decided to make it appear visually longer. A shame the bonnet doesn't have some style lines in it. I saw a couple of Jaguar XFs today and the bonnet styling looked sensational.

Is there an unwritten rule that designers must always tone down cool styling cues for production?

Hi guys, getting lots of questions asked about whether there will be a limited number of XR8's built?

I read a while ago that one of you said there would be, but whats the latest news?

Having rumors from 800-1,200 XR8's only being made.

Clearly the XR8 and XR6 Turbo will be the pick of the bunch for the new Falcon and Ford use it for all their marketing etc, whats the story?

If orange indicators are a requirement of the US, would that mean these ones on the FG-X are surplus ones from the US?

BA Falcon ute used F150 tail lights if I recall (and Lincoln Continental clockspring). Maybe FG-X uses Mustang side lights or something?

I can tell you one thing.
Ford will never clarify.
The hysteria over these transmissions is selling cars for them!

But US rules don't require a side repeater IIRC...hence why imports like the Corvette have commodore side repeaters.

The overhang is actually shorter than the fg according to specs (by 11mm) and the wheels look like either fg style xt 16'' or xr6 17'' wheels...i think the front looks pretty good, it's more the rear of the sedan that im not qiet sure about yet...but will leave my full judgment till i see it in the flesh.

It looked a bit off so I took Dauphins pic (hope u dont mind Dauphin) and aligned both car bodys then tried to reproportioned front and rear (to me these were out). Also changed the angle of the front headlight to make it a bit less steep and also changed grill angle/depth slightly.

Subtle difference but if u save a copy of each, put in a folder and view them back and forth you can see.

The red lines pic was for alignment in GIMP.

HgXR6T
Are you able to cut & paste a Lancer front end & a Mondeo rear end to the FGX body ?
I realise it won't look exactly the same but all of this makes the new 2015 Mustang LOOK a whole lot sweeter.

Thanks for that, IMO it looks FAR better! It would be one of the first mods I would do to an FGX

I think the trayback ute looks ok, the head board on the tray is a bit average though

I saw a gold xr8 today drive past the opposite direction on high street Woodstock. Only got a quick glimpse and if I didn't have to be somewhere I would have turned around and followed it. Anyone questioning the looks reserve judgment for when you see it in the flesh. With only a quick glimpse I can say it looks so much better.

The pic has been edited. The original was a XR6 body and looked way different to the GT bonnet. Looks waaaaay better now

I don't know, at the moment I am not liking what I see, to me the front looks too long and pointy and the back looks way to soft like a mondeo its a shame I want to like it. Will have to see what it looks like in the metal.....not that I am a buyer anyway so my opinion doesn't really matter.

So the design is polarizing. That's great.

Everyone here was bagging the VF commodore when we saw pics of it. It hasn't stopped people buying it and also changing their minds on what it looks like.

Good on Ford for having some Balls and showing us the future design of the Global list of cars that will be our way.

I'm sure, once on the road, and in years to come, even the haters will end up saying they liked it.

Just enjoy the vehicle for what it is and will be,
The last ever Falcon, The last ever Ford built in Australia, by Australians.

Now where's my Flag..... National anthem anyone ;)

Just seen my first ever FGX today. Saw 2 in one day near the Austin hospital. Can definitely say it looks 100% better in the flesh. Tan leather was awesome but too dark to take a pic

Can all spy photographers PLEASE take photos of the wheels, rims, brakes, console, dashboard.

Really, anything other than the standard 3/4 profile shots. We all know what it looks like but us enthusiasts want to see what's "underneath".

Seeing as most 'spy' pics here are from members using their phone on the spur of the moment.
As can be seen by some of the shots ideal lighting conditions for phone pics are not there.

So, if you want brakes, console, dash etc pics might I suggest you buy a Canon 1D and get out there.

Otherwise be grateful for what we get at the moment.
