You do release that the reason the Falcon is being discontinued....lack of sales.
Do you really think there will be a rush and increase in sales? I am waiting to see the XR8 in the flesh. Exterior for me is a winner. Interior I need to see it next to a GEN-F to see if I can live with it. I have all my mods planned for it if I pull the trigger on one. |

Quick question. The XR8 gets more power/bigger engine than before, so power wise whats in store for the G6ET?

I'm not quite sure I 100% agree with you BlueOvalPrint.
The FGX XR8 is certainly an FGMKII GT equivalent mechanically. But it has none of the exterior/interior upgrades you would expect from what would've been an FGX GT (also an FGX GT would've received upgrades itself). My personal opinion is it is not a GT in all but badge, it is an XR8. They'll be rare, they'll be good, but they are a mainstream XR8, eg they look almost identical to an XR6T like almost every other XR8 for the past decade.

Same as the Turbo. Nothing engine wise. Maybe an efficiency gain in the engine program.

I've just spoken with McGrath Ford here in Canberra.
As I said earlier, they had 6 XR8's assigned in their first batch. Within a couple of hours all six have now had deposits put down on them and that's it, no more for the ACT for the next six months. Despite some on here down playing the new XR8, I'm glad I put a deposit down when I did.

Not sure I've seen anyone down play the XR8 I think most people agree this car is likely going to be the performance bargain of the lot.

It is for all intents and purposes a GT, it's just called an XR8. The GT-F is the ultimate expression of an FPV but the XR8 will be the ultimate FG X; it will be a wolf in sheeps clothing.

I agree. look back at things like a XC Fairmont GXL 351/9 inch/4 wheel disc or a k-code XA/B all GT running gear just no badge, and the badge doesn't increase horsepower!

So does anyone know roughly how much the new xr8 will be? And am I correct in that the xr8 is exactly an r spec? If that's the case than wow what a beast!

The rough rumors have been 54k +ORC so somewhere around the 60k mark drive away.

the FG XR8 received the BFII GT 290 engine as an upgrade..... Same again for the FGX as it gets the FGII 335 engine and the "current GT(F)" runs the 351. Things just got a bit weird when they retired the XR8 brand and then introduced the FPV GS, which to many was really an XR8 with a few stickers and a hefty price tag.

Out of interest, is it correct that a 'deposit down' for the forthcoming XR8 is made without
knowing what the final sale price will be? (I have never bought a brand new car). If that is case, is it possible that some dealers may price gouge their 'deposit clients', if the initial demand seems high?

If the XR8 was to be built in such limited auto numbers (as some of the posts here have been saying), then Ford should surely sell it as a 'limited edition' final run and charge a higher price.
Look at the demand (and some of the prices charged) for the GT-F. The whole 'auto' thing could quite possibly be a PR stunt to suck you in ... Why release a car with only 'x' amount of transmissions... it's just stupid. Last edited by usernametaken; 25-09-2014 at 08:34 AM. |

2. Are they going to make enough to be willing to negotiate anyways?? 3. If u don't put a deposit down n want one straight away will you wait ages?? I bought an FG F6 in 2009 an the dealer came down quite a bit on sale price I felt I got a good deal at the time with a few extras. All comes down to supply and demand. My two cents is there will probly be an initial rush and they'll be hard to get but by 2nd quarter of next year should be normal days that's when I plan to buy mine. Really not buying into this won't be be enough talk. Plus of everyone on here and FB that claims they will buy an FGX how many will actually have a new one in there driveway. |

My biggest drama is deciding whether to part ways with my EL XR6 to free up some room, even though I'm pretty sure that can't happen. Always had a soft spot for EL XR's!

The deposit is fully refundable if the price is too high. He knows where the price needs to be for me, so if he actually wants the sale then he'll be open to some bargaining. Like some here have said, I expect that it will be mid 50's plus on roads.

IMHO Ford have learned not to rely on forecasting demand, they just release and pray. Has never mattered how good the vehicle, how sexy, how fast, the Aussie public has shown itself to be one fickle crew.

We live in a capitalist economy and if individuals choose to "invest" in a GT-F good luck to them.. remember they still have to offset the funds that are tied up in the cars until they can find a buyer... Once the FG-X comes out, they may find their target audience shrinks, there is a gamble as per all business transactions/investments.

1. Blown V8 I've been wanting since I sold the F6 2. Love the shape of the FGX and am equally impressed with the addition of sync2. (Not that I don't like it I think it's spot on with no budget but for those complaining about interior, once a twin stainless full streetfighter system is fitted to mine with a tune n I'm bouncing off 6 grand crankin gears in a black manual u won't know what your sitting on with your permanent smile haha!) 3. It's the last V8 falcon ever!! Any true blue ford man knows this is a big deal. For the first time I and for a lot of our parents there will be no Ford Falcon on the showroom floor come 2016. 4. That feeling of being in the drivers seat the first time you smash a new mustang, freshly imported to be bullied by the blown Falcon that is hands down a better car. ;-) |
