Thanks guys, I have an esy week this week and think I need it.
Shav, did you see the Strava Trophy haul? I noticed you had a good one. I would like to think the bike upgrade may have helped a little, but still using the wheels I was using on the older defy, I wasn't even using my good bike, maybe all the training I have been doing is finally helping

Cheers, I really like the Matte look too, lots of matte theme's on products these days really looks good. I just have to make sure I'm wearing bright clothing so I'm seen. Yeah I'd like to keep it up, its been very enjoyable so far. I'll have to find some local people to join along for a ride.

Latest pic of my new Felt with new Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR'S, 3T Zefiro aero bar and ISM Adamo Prologue seat, I've modded this more than my car and i'm not even good enough to appreciate the improvements I've made! Looks cool though!

That sign at the top of the hill is a god send isn't it Sprint. That's when you know the pain is over.
Mengler's is only one of three category 1 climbs I've seen in the TDU. Mengler's, Willunga and this year the introduction of Corkscrew Road. I've done Mengler's and I plan on doing Willunga this year in Amy's Ride. I don't think I'll even bother tackling Corkscrew Road though. Good luck with your ride on Saturday Sprint.

If you can do Mengler's you'll easily do Willunga.

Any of you guys got a Surly? Thinking of getting this one, http://surlybikes.com/bikes/steamroller
Fixed gear, will take a little getting used to, and no margin for error or i will stack hard. Theory is, i only ride 3km to work and a proper road bike is massive overkill. I will also still be able to use this on bigger rides if i so wish. My mate has one and his cruising speed is 35km/h on it, i can live with that. |

had a great race last night in windy conditions, stayed towards the front all race, between me and another guy we set the pace for possibly 90% of the race, a couple of guys tried to break away after sitting at the back and doing very little work, we were able to chase them down and close the attacks, ended up with possibly a 7 man sprint at the end and I came out on top for my first E grade win, to be honest I would have been happy with just a podium as it was the first race that i felt I had control of, normally I'm being led by others tactics.

Thanks mate, yesterdays trophy haul was less than half of one ride the other week, I cracked triple digits on 1 ride but there was at least 10 PR's yesterday that I can put down directly to having a tow for 21 klms at approx 40 kmh, the coach had a minor breakdown, I stopped to help him, the rest of the group kept riding under the coach's instruction, we then played catch up.
He's training for ironman again and is a machine, I did nearly 3 hrs and covered 92 klms yesterday with him, he then went on to do another 2 hrs and covered a total of 158 klms and then jumped off the bike and ran for 18 klms and it was hot.

I've used Sports Tracker since I started. I'll give Strava a go, but it will feel like I'm throwing away all my past kilometres!
What makes Strava better than other GPS monitors?

I don't use Strava as a GPS monitor (Garmin Edge 500 does that), Strava is just a database that I upload all my rides to.
Strava allows you to compare your ride to other riders who have ridden that same roads/tracks. If you are happy with the App you use, you could still upload to Sports Tracker, and export your rides/runs into Strava.
