Dealers AND someone building the engines all say 1200. His info was spot on, so ill take that to the bank over what a suit says, thanks.

I think 1200 will be plenty anyway. There isnt that many hardcore Falcon V8 fans left that have $60k burning a hole in their pocket.

But doesn't the high-torque ZF supply also have to cater for all the G6ETs and auto-XR6Ts? They are not just for the XR8.

At first there will be lots of people wanting an xr8, once the initial hype dies off demand will come down and supply will free up,

Do the math, they can manage an average of 5 engines per day, 20 working days average per month, that's 50 in a good month, this is the limiting factor to how many they can supply, not the gearbox or ford limiting production but the actual time that it takes to hand build each and every 5.0L,

50 per month until oct 2016 is 50x24 = 1200

This has nothing to do with transmission or demand, yes the zf may become an issue towards the end but if that's worrying you, order a car, and don't stress missing out.

Oh wow, the plot thickens. The page made it seem like it was owned completely by said person.

XR8 in manual and black is looking very appealing for a next year purchase...

46 coyotes a month and 2500 high output transmissions. That is the two recurring numbers that tell the biggest story. The trans has to be allocated to G6ET, XR6T and XR8 builds. Without giving too much away, these are the facts and it's up to the individuals if they want to buy straight away or wait.

Having said that, I cannot see any restrictions on manual turbo builds as the I6 engine plant runs at a much higher capacity than the V8 area obviously.

I thought an article said that as well, but when I re-read it it meant the lower spec are auto only, manual XR6 & XR6T will still be available.

Throw the manuals that they will build into the mix and that sounds like plenty of transmissions to go around to meet demand or am missing something?

It appears Callum is trying to discredit info gathered from these forums...apparently this is the only forum he has trouble with and not to listen to us.

Apparently having production line workers and being invited to Ford events isn't good enough...

Quoting your numbers 20 x 5 is 100 per month at maximum capacity.

100 x 24 is 2400 isn't it ?

I think people are missing the fact that sales are very low compared to what they used to be, they are thinking 1200 xr8's is not enough, when in actuality it is probably a very good number, not as many people as we think will fork out 60k for a sedan

Yes it does now appear my math is out, we also aren't taking into consideration that oct 2016 is the latest they will stay until, if sales don't go as expected they can leave sooner. And how many employees are going to stay right until the end, I know I couldn't just sit around and wait for it all to finish, I would be looking for another job already

There are actually 220 work days at Ford per year so 440 x 5 is 2200 max.

Today I took the chance to go and see the XR8 in Melbourne. As other have stated it is a car to view in the metal before forming an opinion. Images don't really do the car justice and fail to portray the finer details in the new grill design and rear diffuser.

Also had to chance to chat a really nice guy who is a test driver for Ford.As noticed by others, the car on show did have some swirl marks and stone chips on the front bar but this car I was told had a bit of a thrashing at the track, the odo showing over 3000km.

With regards to numbers, 1200 XR8's was the figure told to me and three other in the 30min I was there. Gearbox numbers of High Torque ZF's will be 2500 spread over XR8, XR6T and G6ET.

As a FG owner from the start of production in 2008, yes the interior could have had a bit more attention, but on the plus side I know I will be familiar with all the controls (including knowing I CAN find a suitable driving position). Also I will be gaining satnav, rev camera, dual zone climate, touch screen, sync, Bluetooth & ipod integration and leather trim.

I have an auto in Emperor allocated to me, just have endure the wait now
