I think everyone has had their fun???
Please ...... lets not mention Facebook sites, those who run Facebook sites or anything else that isn't related to the Last EVER Falcon Picture & Discussion Thread After 334 pages I know that things get off track, a bit heated, difference of opinion but for the sake of what the Forums are about ........ lets just chat about the FGX and not mention the 'C' word? That would be great thanks

That sketch of the coupe looks so nice with the sill skirt, it really helps tie the revised front in. Is a shame that it didn't make the XR8...

Let's discuss how the xr8 will compare to the SSV Redline. Obviously the interior in the new Falcon isn't really up to the standard of the new VF, cause after all it is an interior that was designed and developed in 2008, as opposed to the vf which came out in 2013. However, the engine, is if you ask me incredibly good for a car that isworth under 75k, let alone 52. What is everyone's thoughts? DO we think the new Falcon can compete with the VF?

I think the XR8 blows the SS-v out of the water...

The question is will dealers price gouge XR8 like GTF and secondly will VF2 bring 317kw 6.2 standard in the redline

I don't think they can price gouge, the thing with GTF is dealers got their allocation, whereas with the XR8 people can buy from another dealer if one is being silly with pricing.

The XR8 is certainly tempting for open-minded Holden V8 fans like myself. I have been thoroughly impressed with the G6 I've had for the last 3 years, and that's only a 6 (LPi).
Since I first drove a Miami GT-E in November 2010 (I still remember it so well - the day before Melbourne cup day, so FPV were empty apart from a few development guys) I've always said Prodrive/FPV had built a winner. The one-eyed GMH fans will never consider it, but those with an open mind will. How many SS & SS-V Commodores do they sell per month? How many of those buyers could be swayed? If only ford marketing could get their *** into gear.... |

From what I've heard, the 6.2 will make its way into the SS some point in the next couple of years, along with paddle shifters. However, the 6.2 still has nothing on the 5.0 boss lol.

To me VF SSV's are seen all over the place. The 1200 XR8's will be much rarer beasts in time to come. And who will care about the interior looking like it is 6 years old now, in 5, 10 or 15 years time. Its a performance car with the 335 S/C V8 and Rspec upgraded suspension/wheels and that exhaust note, plus the completely different front and rear, which is the real appeal of the new XR8. |

It's a shame those wheels weren't chosen for the XR8 and the old design wheels the FG-X XR8 has go on the XR6/XR6T instead.

Note on the concept drawings that the grill is sunk back more than it is on the finished product. Looks a lot better sunk in more imo.

Its quite common for concept sketches to look far better. Often the real thing cant match the proportions or details for various reasons.

Not sure if this has been discussed but I noticed with the XR8 the engine bay and under the bonnet is grey would this be the same over all models ?

Can't say I've seen anything other than the XR8's engine bay, but now that you mention it, the rocker covers are a similar grey to the grey highlights on the body (at least from the pictures I've seen). Nice touch if so.

was in the states week before last, and had a hire Camaro RS (Mustangs at Avis didn't have SatNav) and i must say, the paddle-shifters are a novelty, really.
The RS was dog-dick RED too, so a fun (temporary) excursion to the 'dark-side' :-)

Agreed. paddle shifters for a clutchless manual DSG etc. by all means but for normal Autos like ours just absolute toss really

Depends on the technical advancement and quality of the Auto Box, and the speed & responsiveness of Gear-Changes. Don't forget, Ford use the awesome ultra quick ZF, GM does not.

The ZF is not all that ultra quick at all, definitely not in standard form anyway. It is nothing remotely like a proper DSG box or something worthy of paddle shift
