I hate extra long weekends, ie: Christmas and Easter!
Because if anything is going to go wrong with anything, Murphy's law says it will happen at the very start of one of these two.

just got informed that the "cyclist" who ran into my van has withdrawn his statement to police and will not be presenting himself as the "at fault" driver.
this means my insurance company cannot, or will not, pursue him for costs and that I will have to pay the initial $400 and lose my van for around 3 weeks through no fault of my own. seems fair?????????

yeah! I know, there were about 20 lycra clad witnesses but no-one seen anything apparently.
police have his name and address but without his statement their hands are tied. never mind, life goes on, I'll take the van in for repairs on tuesday, hopefully it will be ready when we want to go in June/July.

Seems a bit odd he can just withdraw his statement and that's it? Makes me wonder more and more I should have a front/back mount camera in my ute for when something like that happens. You just can't win anymore.

I had a good yak with the sergeant at the station and explained I was "less than pleased" with the outcome but because there are no "witnesses" and I didn't see how it happened there is nothing I can do.
he told me the feller was as "guilty as hell" and obviously caused the damage but that his hands were tied. however if one of the other riders came forward then further charges may come into play. that is about as likely as a snowball surviving in hell. I'm just a bit narked that I have to pay the $400 excess when I have a lifetime "no claim bonus" and was not "at fault".

Large retail chains who care about nothing more than a few $$$. I work for a large goods chain, 1 1/2hrs before close yesterday and a day before a public holiday, they say they have decided our store is open easter sunday and get a team together. WTF!!!!, thankfully I am no longer a floor staff and I work behind scenes so does not apply to me. I offered to work anyway, but don't have to. Be lucky if we get more than 5ppl in. We are not a grocery store and are not in a major city.

Hey Poppa, I feel your pain - I am in a similar situation. Before anyone thinks this is racist may I suggest you think again.
Woman lives out in Arnhem Land and owns a Land Cruiser. A family member borrows it and drives to Darwin. In Darwin, the said family member (female) decides to let a male relative who had never driven have his first lesson in the car-park of units where I live. My Falcon is parked 14 spots away on the other side of a 30m wide car-park. The guy puts it in reverse and is so drunk / stoned he floors it, travels almost 60m in reverse an wipes out the driver's side of the Falcon, in the process getting the rear wheels stuck in the storm water drain. Two other female relatives then drag him from the vehicle and move it back to the other side of the car-park. Another resident got the rego of the vehicle and gave me the details and description of the male driver. All this information was passed on to the Police. Now here is where it gets interesting. Police spoke to the owner of the vehicle who gave them the name of the female relative who took the vehicle to Darwin. She is spoken to and gives the name of the unlicensed male she let drive the vehicle in the car-park. Police spoke to the u/l driver who denies he was there then states it was one of two other female relatives who did the damage and gives Police their names. Police speak to them and they deny it was them and only moved the vehicle out of the storm drain. Of course no one saw who was driving the Land Cruiser at the time of the accident. Now, according to Police, because everyone has done the correct thing and given the name of the person involved, unless it is admitted to, they can do nothing. The male asked Police who gave them his description. He then returned and smashed the windscreen of the guys Corolla who witnessed the incident and Police can't git him for that either.

Nope, they make commission. So no penalty rates. Sooooo glad I convinced my boss to give me the technician job, no more sales, and I work school hours, so no more daycare fee's. But my job is a hell of a lot harder and demanding than sales and with no comm anymore I lost some pay. However the benefits to me and the kids outweighed the higher demand and pay cut.

I don't find what you said surprising at all, except the bit I quoted. I was under the impression cops were not allowed to divulge the info of a witness.

People who ask a question and then proceed to talk over the top of you as you attempt answer because they either already know the answer or don't want hear your advice because their mind is already made up.

I can't stand people in the right lane not doing the speed limit, the worst are the ones who refuse to move over so you have to overtake in the left, then they speed up....
I hate tailgaters....With a burning passion I give them a 'brake check' if they get up my *** but my friend went to a new level, on his 4wd he has a sneaky spot light on the back that if someone rides his *** for to long at night he flicks it on and boom the other car slows right down. And last but not least P platers(not all), just the ones who think they're Michael Schumacher on the road, I hated driving my corolla when I had it, used to get cut off all the time. Its nice to be in something a bit bigger no more bullying on the roads! |

Faceless people that appear to know everything and shut everyone else down for sharing an example that goes against their own results or thought process and they especially never know when to stop typing and have some respect... they can kill the aura of a great online community when people no longer want to log in and read the same chest beating everyday ...

I hate faceless people that prank call you at 1230 - 0130 in the morning, approximately 10 times, talking all sorts of dribble down the line, making threats againt you and your family, calling you all sorts.....
theres a reason people get banned multiple times from online communities. take a good hard look at yourself first. much like whinging at the police, when really its you thats being an absolute tool....

Thats bloody disgraceful, and its sad to see the police supposedly can't do anything because these people are pushing the blame around, they probably know how the system works to well and this wouldn't be the first time. Doesn't surprise me at all when I hear on the news that there was a fatal road rage incident where someone got shot either,

Doggers -noun. 1) A term used to describe people, who use dogs to catch & kill animals, usually pigs, who tend to take all the credit for a successful hunt, and none if the hunt is a failure. 2) A person too inept to obtain a firearms licence or operate a firearm with any skill, who requires a dog to hunt for them. 3) A group of 10 + people, with 3 or more vehicles & 4 or more dogs, involved in hunting other animals with minimum success & maximum noise & disruption to anyone else in the vicinity.

Plugging in the phone when it's at 10% and leaving it for a few hrs before going out, only to grab it and find it's now at 6% because someone took it upon them selves to turn everything off at the switch.....

when i was in the workforce a "dogger" was a feller who did the rigging for a crane.
I've also heard the term used for a feller who patrols the dingo fence hunting and trapping dingo's. then i looked the term up on google and seen it was a person who walks their dog and spots folk's having roody doo's in motor vehicles. now I see it is folks who use dogs to hunt animals.........confusing world this one Huh!

Bought an AU ute the other day. Prepping it for RWC. Go to throw a new set of rotors and pads on it just now. Drop off the left rear and find the disc retaining screw is stripped and maybe locktited in. How the ***** the last owner got it done up in such a state I don't know. Lent my chisels to someone who's out of town on Easter hols too. Down tools, beer o'clock comes early today...
